I don't think we deserve lower than Music City. Honestly, If we had to go to Liberty or Birmingham I hope none our fans go because that is a joke!

That's not the point. It's the last place anyone wants to go, especially when we were licking our chops over the CFA and Cotton Bowls a month ago, but to say we're gonna be cunts and not show up is just stupid.

You don't think we need the extra practice?

Maybe a crappier goodie bag will inspire our lineman to get a better push next year?

I think he's both. You go to a ******* bowl game wherever they send us. It's out of our hands. We should have won the egg bowl and we wouldnt have to worry about it. But not showing up to a bowl game WILL effect our chances in the years to come.

Especially considering it will probably be in a town with a good alumni group, less than 6 hours away from most of the fanbase, in the middle of our recruiting footprint and on a saturday afternoon.

Cut the guy some slack, I believe he's thinking along of the lines of basketball

& turning down an invite to the NIT or something. But yeah, WE ARE MSU... when we get a bowl invite, we GO!

Right. Punish the seniors for going 8-4...

..I realize a certain amount of ignorant remarks should be tolerated on any sports messageboard. But sometimes it goes too far. Suggesting we punish these seniors by refusing a bowl bid just because they went 8-4 instead of 9-3 or 10-2 is a level of ignorant that deserves every bit of mockery you'll receive in this thread.

Im kind of getting out my frustration. TSUN doesnt deserve a better bowl than us and the fact that people even consider that is so retarded.

Why don't you stop concentrating on...

...the bowl fate of a white supremacist school & concentrate on what our seniors deserve. Our seniors deserve a bowl victory as a final exclamation point to their career. If they have to play SMU in the Liberty or Duke in the Music City to get that victory, that I'm all in.

Somebody mentioned it but you do NOT give up an extra spring practice which is essentially what we get with a bowl game.

I've been dubbed an "official" idiot for my take on our 2012 bowl situation, which is that one bowl is just as good as another for us this season. After getting the field wiped with our laggard asses for the past five games, we ought to feel lucky to even be in a bowl. Beyond that, I do think we end up in the lower tier because there is a lot more excitement around Vandy than us right now, and I don't see how Gator ignores that. Even if they bring less fans than we would, it probably helps Gator's long term marketing. I also think the oddity of an 8-win Vandy team gives them more tv viewers. If they take us, great, but IO wouldn't in their place. We were just in MCB last season, and Ole Miss also has some of that wow factor going on now, so I think they'll take TSUN over us if they can get away with it. Hopefully, I'm wrong about Gator taking Vandy, which makes the point moot. As far as the difference between one bowl and another, I just don't see any difference other than financial for a team that is searching for its spirit after another shoulda-coulda-woulda year. I'm just grateful that we'll get to play the extra game and have the chance to redeem ourselves.
The original post of this thread, that we should be o-so picky, is the outright stupidest thing I've read since the directions to a Made in China pair of compact binoculars.

I'm a big believer in watching how a team plays and not necessarily looking at the record. Numbers don't always tell the tale.

1. I think OM deserves a better bowl game than we do. Cold, hard truth. They ARE a better team than us at this point. Taking everything into consideration, I think you pick the team that got better towards the end, period.

2. If you walked out on the team during a loss this year and tried to justify that, I don't see how you're fighting for the seniors to have a bowl game. That doesn't quite add up. I'm not pointing this towards anyone in particular, I'm just amazed when I see the volume of people combusting in a tight spot that will turn around and jump on the bowl game bandwagon.

3. I'm disappointed in this year. Have been for a few games. But for the number of bowl games there is, NO we shouldn't turn one down. Nor should we complain if it's crappy. You get what you deserve, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

4. Yes, I think there are too many bowl games.

We're going to the Gator so don't worry. But there's no way in hell we would turn down ANY bowl we're offered. One guy already mentioned the extra spring practice we get (and God knows we need it). But beyond that, pissing off one of the SEC's bowl partners and the SEC office would be a very dumb thing to do. Stupid, stupid, stupid to even suggest otherwise.
