If we hadn't lost to 3 ****** teams, we'd be top 5 right now.

but you're right. Even with just 1 loss... @ WK preferably we'd be sitting around #10 or better.

to be 3-0 in the SEC with a two game lead on your closest competitor so early in the season? Wait a second.

The Rider loss is what kills us. Richmond is going to be a team to watch and WKU is a tournament team. We should have won both of those games.

That doesn't make that comment any less retarded. I wasn't claiming superiority.

If Vanderbilt won 12 games in football. they'd be in the top 5. If the Pittsburgh Pirates won 140 games, they'd make the playoffs. If MSU didn't lose to Rider (I don't even know what state that school is located in, by the way) they'd be better.

That is why there are several 30-0 teams at the end of every season. Hey, has anyone noticed that we have won 13 of 14 games and are undefeated in the SEC? I'll be damned.

if say, Kentucky, had beaten us with a furious comeback like that, it would have been because they were good and we had it coming, we had just been lucky.

Of course MSU stole the game away. It wasn't the fact that we have a seasoned team that has winning experience. Not at all. No way that can be. We are Mississippi State, after all.

If Rhode Island had not lost to Temple and Virginia Commonwealth they would be in the top 10. If New Mexico had not lost to San Diego State and Oral Roberts then they might be in the top 10. Do I need to go on? Damn people, MSU is not the only basketball team on the planet.

year. Pure luck. Actually, we have been lucky during Stans entire head coaching career. There is no way that we have a respectable program without all of that great luck. If we could ever get a "seasoned" team together with a decent coach, we could consistently win 20+ games a year and regularly go to the Big Dance and win the west. Hell, we could even have a chance to win the overall SEC and go undefeated in SEC road games. A couple of SEC tourney victories with some work. Maybe one day.

I don't REALLY consider WK, Richmond or Georgia to be "******" teams (all 3 are in fact currently in the top 100 RPI). I was mainly throwing that out there as this board always seems to denigrate the teams we play (deserved or not). Rider however IS a different story but its hard to say a lot on that game when they basically put a beat down on us in the Hump. But, all in all, I will say that anyone that watches us game in and game out and thinks we are truly Top 10 material is not being very objective. We just have too many flaws with inside depth, overall offensive consistency, turnovers and free throwing. I do think we are Top 25 material but if we had won those close games with Richmond and WKU and been in the Top 10 at this point I would still personally feel we were overranked.

Now putting that all aside I am enjoying being 15-3 and leading the West but I don't feel that night in and night out we could compete on an equal footing with the upper crust teams in the country this year. Fortunately however, it appears that the SEC only has one of those type teams (Kentucky). Now if Sidney gets cleared, giving us another big man, and somehow plays to his hype THEN we might actually be Top 10 material.

I can't even describe how sick I get of ppl downgrading our success in basketball. Please flashback to about 15 years ago and see where we were MOST year (obviously no including 94-95, and 95-96) and we were terrible, dotting in a few NCAA appearances. Now we get there and lose, it's the next step. Before long we are going to start winning some games in the tourney and it'll be "Oh Jesus why can't RS get past the Sweet 16, we should fire him!" Here's my question, who in the hell would we hire if we fired RS?

Agreed. I don't think the Richmond and WKU loses are hurting us as bad as the Rider.

we shouldn't have lost those 3 games. Play those teams 10 times, we probably win 8 of them. But we lost. We are 15-3 and leading the SEC. Enjoy it. Stansbury is who he is. He will lose some games that will make you think WTF. But in the end, we will have 20-25 wins.

...curse the invention of the Internet.

If there was no Internet, the world would never realize the Miss. State fanbase includes a large percentage of grow men (and alleged heterosexual men) that would actually ***** about a Miss. State basketball team being 15-3 after 18 games played. & 3-0 in conference play after 3 games played.

The world really doesn't need to be exposed to this aspect of the Miss. State fanbase.

So please cut it out.</p>

we have three losses and if we hadn't lost those we would be in top 5? Wow, did u stay at Holiday Inn Express last night? That is pure genius. Is it possible that if other teams with 3 crap losses had won those game they might be in Top 5 as well? Let me see....if we had lost to Ark, UM, and Ga...both very close wins....where would be right now? At 15-3 we are in a good position with 13 SEC games left to play. IF we win 7 of the 13 we finish the regular season at 22-9 and will certainly be in the tourney. Winning 7 of 13 doesn't sound that good but in my opinion, it will not be that easy. Win 8 and then 2 in the tourney and all of a sudden we have a 25 win season...not bad but probably not good enough for many. Yes, I know, we play in the very weak SEC so it is nothing to brag about if we win the West or even the overall title. In my book it beats the **** out of losing.
