just b/c a coach can "turn around" a MAC program doesn't mean a damn thing ... the conferences aren't comparable to the SEC. it in NO WAY suggests he could take an SEC program to the top.

If we do hire him, we should pay him $1MM, and take the other $1.5MM we were going to pay Petersen and put it in the bank for 2012 when we have to hire a Dooley's replacement.
what would suggest to you that a coach could turn around an SEC program? because there are many prolific coaches that started out turning around smaller programs. i like gill. i think if someone could make the absolute worst program competitive then they could probably do something here.RuffandTumble said:

right now, we need a proven coach, we know can manage a program in a premiere conference. we said the same thing w/ croom ... "give him time, he'll turn it around, just be patient"</p>

It may just be a year too early for him to make the jump. If Buffalo has a winning record next year or maybe the next two years, he'll get a lot of looks. You have to understand, they S-U-C-K-E-D before he got there.
He inherited a winner and kept winning in a conference on par with the MAC. I understand he went to a BCS game and won it but we are not exactly in the running for a BCS game now or next year or the next or the next.
