If we lose to Vandy next week does our AD pull the trigger?

I’m assuming the answer is a resounding no, but I really don’t understand why. If we can’t beat Vandy, Auburn will beat us walking away. Ole Miss will embarrass us like they did in croom’s last game. And then you damn near have to fire him and are way behind in the coaching carousel

If Randy beats us, then Salmon has to pull the trigger.

Like I said in another post, if we're trailing Vanderbilt at halftime at home this year, Lebby should not come out of the locker room on the field side.

If that happens and he doesn’t, I think his and Lebbys jobs are both on the line next year.

No, I'm certain he does not.

I honestly can’t imagine how any responsible manager of an athletic department could not have already reached the conclusion that he has to let this HC go and find a new one. It’s obvious at this point.

The nightmare scenario is he keeps Lebby, Kamario balls out next year and gets Lebby another year in 2028.

He’s got to go and the sooner the better.

In all honesty, we are exactly where I thought we’d be at the end of October, or actually better. Difference is we are down a QB +, and the prospects moving forward are in doubt. 2 more wins or GTFO

I think Lebby is getting Brodie and JJ ready to see some serious game time. We will beat Vandy and TT. But if Selmon thinks Dickert can be had he should get busy making it happen
Why would he just be getting them ready now? It’s been obvious for at least a month that 5 & 6 can’t get the job done at RB. And that 15 can’t get it done at qb.

I never said I agree, but I can see us bringing back a coach for another year. I have gotten to the point where I really don't care what happens in football anymore. Unfortunately, that crosses over to Mississippi State football.

You would have to ask Lebby why. Maybe he has no foresight ? I think the 1 and 0 is as far ahead as he looks. Why was Brodie not dressed out ? Knowing K1 is hurt, saying AJ was hurt and Billy was your only healthy QB that you dressed out is pitiful planning imo. Maybe he read SPS and saw that K1 was plenty healthy and could play the whole game ?? Eta, as you know i would have handled this whole QB situation differently. IF Swann was hurt he should have been bringing Brodie along. He was here in the spring. 3 star should be more talented than a zero star. Right ??

1) He will be fired if we lose to Vandy. Immediately.

2) If we squeak by Vandy, but get blown out by Auburn, he will be fired. Immediately.

3) If we beat Vandy, play Auburn relatively close, but then struggle with TN Tech (meaning a loss, or a win by less than 2 TD’s), he will be fired. Immediately.

4) If we beat Vandy, play Auburn relatively close in a loss, takes care of business against TN Tech, but get our doors blown off against OM, he will be fired.

The only way he doesn’t get fired is if we get to 6-6…..AND the losses to Auburn and OM are competitive. Or somehow 7-5 happens (pretty much impossible). The chances of Lebby’s survival are microscopic.

Just as many said before the season began…..he’s going to be fired in 2026. The only remaining question at this point is which week does it happen?

I quit trying to figure out what the hell Lebby is thinking long ago. He’s like a bad high school coach making decisions by the seat of his pants and a hunch he might have.

is what a lot of people said about Arnett and Lemonis in the last few years.
Neither had the buyout football has and it's a lot easier getting a coach in baseball. Unless we've got a top of the list guy signed up it's not happening short of a TN Tech loss.

Buyout isn’t gonna change from NOV 8 to Nov 30
We owe him 75% of his remaining contract if we fire him without cause. Two years left at about 9MM, so around 6.75 would be what we owe him to walk

Who said it changes? He said it's bigger than the other sports and it's harder to hire a football coach. He's not getting fired unless he loses to TN Tech maybe. Believe it or not, he's still got more support than you'd think.

Well that would be quite disappointing if he has more support than his wife and kids if he loses to Vandy!

I think if we lose Saturday the pressure will be too much for Selmon. He will have to make a move. He did not fire him yesterday or today and I don't think he will fire him after a win but will after the next loss.

He should, and there is precedence with Selmon showing that he is willing to make mid season moves. He fired Arnett and Lemonis during the season.

My guess though is he won't for two reasons. 1) Lebby is his hire and has more of a vested interest in him 2) He and JL have a prior history and a kinship from OU. I expect him to hold off until season end unless we lose to TS in which he could not wait any longer.
