Xavier Grindle drawing lots of interest
Running back Xavier Grindle (Columbia, Miss./East Marion), who rushed for over 1,300 yards as a junior, already has offers from in-state progrmas Mississippi State and Southern Miss., but is getting a lot of interest from schools outside the state like Tennessee, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, USC and Texas.
"Sometimes I have to catch myself on the sidelines because I am jumping around, going crazy after some of his runs," East Marion coach Anthony Dillon. "I think he's the total package and he brings a lot to the table for us and will to a college."
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder loves the big run, but also enjoys pounding the rock.
"He has speed and size. But most important is his vision," said Dillon. "Xavier sees the entire field. It's crazy sometimes because you think he must have eyes in the back of his head. He can also catch the football. Like I said, Xavier Grindle can do it all."
Grindle, who grew up more of a Mississippi State fan, says he has no favorite when looking at what college football program he wants to play for.
"I know [Mississippi State] is up and coming. But I am very wide open. I want to see what is best for me and I am looking at everyone's offenses," said Grindle. "If I have to go out of state then I will. If I think it's best to stay in-state then I will. I just want to be open minded and feel everyone out."
Grindle will attend junior days at Mississippi State (Feb. 19) and Southern Miss (Feb. 26).
