Malone to shoot 3's when others go cold

It would be nice to see someone playing in the paint that has some meat on his bones and doesn't look like a hard gust of wind would break him or blow him over.

Not listed as a choice, but I would have liked to have Winsome Frazier, especially on defense during the OM and Auburn games. </p>

He's the only player in State history with over 2,000 points and over 1,000 rebounds.

While he isn't the guy I'd pick if I could only chose one, I really wish we had a Branden Vincent clone on this team.

Since everyone has already called out the obvious top 3, I'll throw Dontae Jones out there as honarable mention...

Starting from the SEC tourney through the Syracuse game that year, he was as dominant as any we've ever had.

He would instantly give us a shooter/slasher that would demand a double team every trip down the floor which would open up either another three shooter or Varnado down low.

Someone to lay down the law around the basket is all this team needs. Think about Dampier and Varnado in the lane. There would be no sense in a team going inside on us. Burns would give us a serious dose of mean too.

Give me the SEC/NCAA tourny version of Dontae Jones anyday of the week. That dude was on fire when it was nut cuttin' time. I'm not sure MSU makes the Final Four without DJ lighting it up.

he was a "beast in the middle" when he was on his game.
I was just about to post about Mario. He and Varnardo down low would be scary. He had the best skills of any big man I've seen at state. And Mario was a great passer as well. He would open up a ton of shots because we are a much better shooting team now.

I'd take Wiley Peck who could board and defend. We had a bunch of great scorers such as Malone, but this team needs help inside.

We would need a rebounder....yea Wiley Peck too but he could only really dunk. Great one handed rebounds though....I pick Lawrence Roberts over Mario but neither could really jump.. Never saw much before 1977. Rickey could rebound and score....and I still remember people gettin on him for only avg 10+ rebounds...If we needed another guard Malone is the only one on my list.

He was the most talented player to ever suit up for MSU. Maybe not the most coachable but NO ONE could guard him. He would have us in the Top 10 with the other players we have now...
