Who would you take between Varnado and Sidney?
Assuming Jarvis comes back for his senior year and Sidney wants to come here and is a one and done.

I agree with you. Jarvis is pretty consistent and has improved each year, but there is a ceiling with his talent though. Sidney on the other hand could come in and dominate or be a waste.

will stay in the Draft and Sidney will sign with someone else. This scenario wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Don't get those hopes up! If you have followed MSU basketball the past decade.... chances and hopes of getting our (key) signees/players... aka.... Outlaw, Ellis, Bender, Butler, Hopson.... Plus early entries to the NBA... Aka... Gordon, Austin.... Do not pan out like we hope and wish.... That is MSU basketball.... You just can't get your hopes up if your a dog fan.</p>

A situation like this always seems to happen to us every year, and besides getting Lawrence, we haven't had much luck. Maybe this is our time though. Out of all the people who have left or not come here in the first place, I really see JV as being different. I don't know his dad, but being a basketball coach himself, I don't think he is gonna let JV do something stupid. But I won't be surprised either if JV stays in the draft and Sidney stays at USC or goes elsewhere. We are M-State after all. Mabye, just maybe USC will be the one to get M-Stated this time. That is the way it is setting up anyway.

If Varnado left and Sidney went elsewhere, with so many others coming back, we'd still have a better record than 2007-08. Better enough to make the NCAA's easily or at least be on the good side of the bubble. With Varnado, we'll be much better--rankable. With V and Sidney, we could be really really good.

Your an idiot if you think that Elgin Bailey is gonna do better for this team than what Jarvis did last year. If Jarvis leaves and we dont get Sidney, we would be screwed.

The premise was losing Jarvis and not getting Sidney, but keeping everybody else, which would pretty much make it last year's team, but with Elgin starting. And Navin said that team would be much better. And I also think he must be out of his mind.

edit to clarify he said/he said confusion

I would much rather have Varnardo again than get sidney for one year (yes i know Varnardo only has one year as well.)

Yeah. Much better was only if Jarvis returns.

However, even without Jarvis and without Sidney, we still be better than last year. Last year we finished the regular season 19-12 and 9-7, won the SEC tourney but was still only a 13 seed, then went one and out. We probably wouldn't win the SEC Tourney but next season we could be at least on the good side of the bubble and have a better seed and therefore at least win one game in the tourney.

No, Bailey is not better than Jarvis, but we would be returning everyone else and they should be better. For example, we had a freshman point guard that should be better just from experience and age. We would get MUCH more production from Kodi. Ravern was leading the SEC in 3pt FG % towards the end of the season and will be more seasoned. Turner will be a leader and should be at least a little better. Stewart can't be any worse. All of them will be at least a little better on defense just from more experience. THAT'S why I say that we would be better than 2008-9 even without JV and without Sidney. We would finish better than 19-12 and at least as good as 9-7 in the SEC. JV was great but we still lost too many games last year. Again, WITH Varnado, we will be MUCH better than last year.
