Win and go to Atlanta (most likely). Lose and we're walking in Memphis. Wouldn't be anybody's fault but our own.

if we lose the Egg Bowl then we *deserve* the Liberty Bowl.

And after the ****-tastic seasons we've had the last 10 years (sans 2007) I'll take it with a smile.

I know a team with 1 fewer loss can jump a team, but I haven't seen where a team with 2 fewer losses cannot jump a team.

In a few months "we" (and by "we", I mean dawgstudent) go from "we should be able to make a bowl game" to "we're only accepting invites from good bowls". We are Sixpackspeak.com!

When Music City snubs us, we'll all have to boycott country music. (I'd still hit Faith Hill and pretty much every other female country singer though)

Only thing I would argue is that the SEC West is so stacked this year. Either way, you still have to beat a 4-7 Ole Miss teams if you think you are deserving of the Peach Bowl.

You think if we go 7-5 with 4 losses to teams in the top 12 we should get jumped by TN at 6-6? Or Ky at 7-5 though we beat them?

Of course I'm glad we are bowl eligible this year. Post-LSU game ckDOG would probably kick my *** for being picky about bowl games at all. However, times have changed quite a bit since September 18 when we were 1 - 2. Our only losses are against high quality teams. We can compete against solid competition - there is no doubt about it. I want a chance at a game that will turn some heads around the country and establish some confidence going into next year should we win. A game against an average CUSA team will not give us that chance.

Sorry for being picky, but the Liberty Bowl can kiss my arse this year.

SMU and Tulsa have good offenses and not very good defenses.

Our best hope would be for UCF to lose to Memphis so USM goes to and wins theConference USA championship game, then USM heads to the Liberty Bowl. I think the SEC/CUSA deal keeps MSU/UM from playing USM in the Liberty Bowl.

Of course we have a better chance of going to the Sugar Bowl than Memphis beating UCF.Just beat OM this weekend and we will not have to worry about it. Worst case for us then would be Gator or Music City.

Page 9 - bowl invitations.

Per NCAA Bylaw 30.9.2.1 an institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be
selected for participation in a bowl game if 1) the institution or its conference has a primary
contractual affiliation, which existed prior to the first contest of the applicable season, with
the sponsoring bowl organization. In the case of a conference contractual affiliation, all
conference teams with winning records must be placed in one of the contracted bowl games
before any institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be placed in a contracted
bowl game; and 2) all contractual affiliations have been fulfilled and all institutions with
winning records have received bowl invitations (either through a contractual affiliation or
as an at-large selection).
In the case of a conference contractual affiliation, all conference teams with winning
records must be placed in one of the contracted bowl games before any institution with a
record of six wins and six losses may be placed in a contracted bowl game. There shall be
no contingency agreements with other sponsoring bowl organizations intended to enable an
institution with a record of six wins and six losses to become eligible for those contests.

I don't think that would apply to any bowl picks that are made "concurrently", which would be the Cotton/Outback and the Liberty/Birmingham, which shouldn't matter for us.

I'm not saying MSU will never go to the Liberty Bowl again at 7-5. I'm saying we're not going to wind up there by being jumped by three 6-6 teams.

or supposedly gave us an invite on here.

with that invite, the SEC can place any 6-6 team ahead of us, per "...and all institutions with winning records have received bowl invitations....".

i'm sure the SEC encouraged the Liberty to do that, setting Tenn and GA up to pass us.

with all this bowl specific ****. If we move to the WAC we could be playing for a BCS bid. But who in the hell would want to go to our stadium and get a dose of 7 Alcorn State match ups. We will have our hands full with the Black Bears of the North. I still have not got that taste out of my mouth from the last time we played up there.

If we go to the Liberty I will be one proud Dawg. If we go to Nashville or Atlanta I will be just as proud. We have had a hell of a season no matter what happens Saturday.

Lets go kick ***.....

Go Dawgs.

I'm assuming this is written with the intent that no Conference Team get left out in the cold, rather than governing a selection order. So for example if our conference only had 7 slots, UGA and TN couldn't be selected instead of us, but if there are enough bowls, then it doesn't matter.

According to BDJ, the SEC has diff rules. A team can not jump another team with 2 more wins than them. So basically a 6 win team can not be selected for a better bowl over an 8 win team.

I feel that we should appreciate any bowl we get but seeing how much we have improved this year i hoping for a bowl game in Atlanta. All of our loses have come at the hands of top tier teams who all will probably be ranked top ten end of the season. we should at least get the music city even with a loss to ole miss. We just need to take care of business against ole miss and hope all the other games fall like they need to end up in a better bowl. That avatar is hilarious by the way. Where did you get that?

No 9-win team can lose a spot to a 7-win team but also, no 6-win team
can be picked over a 7-win team. But a 7-win team can go over an 8-win
team and an 8-win team can go over a 9-win team. Make sense?
So you can have 1 less win as long as you don't have only 6 wins. 6 can't go over 7 but - 7 can go over 8 - and - 8 can go over 9.

...that State has been placed, in a bowl TBD.

i wouldn't worry about it too much. i don't think the SEC wants to appear to be anymore of a rigged joke than it's quickly gaining a rep for.
