If you have a competent kicker...

I've about decided you should almost always kick the field goal. The exception is being down more than 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Yep. Sometimes coaches outcoach themselves in an effort to outcoach the opponent. Ritter hit from 54 against Texas so he's more than just competent.

Really proud of the way our defense played though. Outside of the one long run by Yeldon, they more than held their own. The offense moved the ball well a few times, getting to the Bama 25 four times but then Freeze was just too aggressive. The trick pass by Treadwell that got intercepted still has me scratching my head.

You can add extra points to that comment as well. To hell with 2 point conversion attempts in the first half.

In the Falcons defense last night, they would be down one score either way in the 10-3 situation. Usually how many scores up or down would be the deciding factor. However, it was too early in the game to try that nonsense, and that decision is a big part of why they lost. I think the one who said 17 down in the 4th is about right; 19 is technically three scores, but in practicality it's four because the liklihood of converting 2 points twice is low.

Nah. That was the debil:

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience
