If you haven't read the book (or at least listened to the audio book) DO NOT watch this trailer:

Can't wait! Read the book and, though in my opinion it was not near as good as The Martian, really looking forward to the Project Hail Mary movie.

P:HM and The Martian are two of my favorite audiobooks. I cannot recommend them enough.

I was looking to see if Andy Weir had any books coming out during lunch; he does in 2026. This is such a great book, and I cannot wait. If you are not a reader, give it a listen along with The Martian.

YES. Loved the book. Can't wait to see how they pull all that off, but you are right - there are too many spoilers in the trailer.

It looks like they made it for people that have read the book. It needed to be him waking up, a little earthy backstory, and the hand on the window.

Have not watched the trailer nor read any Andy Weir books. But The Martian is one of my favorite movies of the last decade or so. For the uniformed, I presume this is a similar kind of movie? If so, will definitely need to catch that in theaters.

It’s similar in that he sciences the shitout of it… otherwise the stories are very different.

Watched the trailer before this thread & I thought it looked interesting. Saw your thread and my first thought was, "wait that's definitely an interesting interpretation of Vonnegut's Slaughter House Five."

Listening to Any Audio Book = Reading the Physical or LCD Text

I have decided one is equivalent to the other. There are some books that are much better read manually, so as to be able to pause and reflect, but I have decided this fact does not negate the equivalence.

Thus it is so.

To me there is no difference. I will say that the right narrator though can really elevate a story. Ray Porter, the guy who narrates P:HM, is an absolute gem, as is RC Bray who narrated The Martian. Unfortunately, the latter is no longer available to purchase and has been replaced by Wil Wheaton who is a bit of a turd.
