Hopefully you can look at your original post and see where you were wrong. Like I and several others have said, we know good football when we see it. Sadly it isn't being played in Lexington, but Louisville instead. It's not about rooting or cheering for UofL, it's about watching something that is entertaining.
I'll always bleed blue and will never root against my...OUR CATS, but I will turn the channel and watch something that doesn't anger me or depress me.

I'm a UK Basketball fan come January. The "it's good for the state" stuff back during ULs title run irked me to no end. I guess I'm thinking of that too.

Just like in basketball I hope UL football and Petrino get the crap hammered out of them by the NCAA.

I am just going to say one thing. I am one of the biggest UK fans ever. I will never root for U of L basketball. All that said I am a U of L alum and I desperately wanted us to hire Petrino 4 years ago. I love his style of football and I wanted to see UK do well. I am going to watch and root for this U of L team. I will still hope against hope that we beat them in November, but there is no reason not to get excited about a team in the city I live in from the college I graduated from. Sorry if that makes me less of a fan in your eyes. Football is, has, and always will be my favorite sport and my favorite school is not satisfying me in that department. Thus is like if your wife quit having sex with you. You may still love her, but your going to go get sex somewhere.

You went to U of L...that should determine your loyalty. Period, new paragraph. You should bleed red.

The only exception I might make for this is people who have degrees from both. I have friends from Law School at UK who went to undergrad at U of L. (In that case you should stick with your alma mater over the professional school, IMO.)

If the Cats every scheduled a game against my alma mater, that might test my loyalty. Luckily, they are AA (Western Illinois, Go Leathernecks!) so I don't think that will ever happen.

Rooting interest and education are two different things. It is entirely possible to choose a school because of a desired program offered, and not be a fan of that institution.
Why some must make nonsensical correlations binding the two is beyond me.

I myself would never consider getting a degree from UofL, and it has nothing to do with their Athletic Department. Believe it or not there are a lot of professional fields in this world, and UK doesn't offer degrees in all of them.

I'm talking about switching active rooting interests because they're good. Edit: even up to the point of cheering for them to beat UK.

WHO is supposedly doing this? I've not noticed a problem with UK fans switching loyalties. The UK fans I know still dislike UL as much as ever, and none would ever "cheer for them to beat UK."

Are you sure you're not making up a fake problem that doesn't really exist?

I disagree with you. He went to U of L. That should be his team in all sports. Why would you be a traitor and root against your alma mater, and for their arch-rival no less.

It is not nonsensical. It is eminently sensible. He went to U of L. He wanted to join that community and be a part of it.

I'm not saying you should pick educational programs based on athletics, the other way around actually. When you choose an institution and community based on your program, you become a part of it and those become your teams.

Maybe for you, and some others who feel the need to tie the two together for some reason.
It's not being a traitor at all, like I clearly stated, it is entirely possible to pick an institution of higher learning for reasons other than their athletic department...things like program of choice, it's standing, distance from home, etc...MANY reasons that have ZERO to do with their athletic programs. It's why you can always find a student in the fan section of the home team with the opposing teams shirt or colors on.

The idea that you HAVE TO root for where you earned your degree or you're a traitor...the University of choice took your money in exchange for your education, transaction closed. If you decide you like their sports programs, fine. If not, by all means root with your heart, not some nonsensical bs of "well you went there, so"

Again, nobody said you should pick an educational institution based on the athletics. But you are wrong about rooting interests. They come from where you attend, make friends, live, go to events, support your classmates who are athletes. When you spend all those years in a place, if you cheer against your team, there is something objectively wrong with you.

A student who is in the student section with an opposing team shirt on is just a traitor and I have no respect for that person. They should be shunned.

I'd rather see the poster above loving his Cards and **** talking us instead of being a fake Cats fan.

I'm sorry but loyalties should be deeper than just passing fancies and fair weather cheering for winners. If you went to U of L and cheer for UK you are a bad person. If you were born between I-80 and the Wisconsin border, between Rockford and Gary, and you are a Packers fan, you are a bad person and a traitorous POS and I hate you.

You're right about loyalties, so i guess being born into a family of CATS, and being a lifelong CAT means nothing unless you attend(ed) the University of Kentucky, correct? That's your logic anyway.

EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THE REGULAR STUDENT.

You call be fake, traitors whatever you want, but it's clear you sir are a moron, how can't separate emotion from sense. This ignorant and childish tie you talk about to a given University is moronic and sophomoric at best.

You cheer for a team or school because it's the TEAM you like, not because you got a damn art degree from them...jesus christ the logic of some of you people is...twisted to say the least.

Did the OP eat paint chips as a kid? There's a difference between taking your head out of the sand and admitting UL has a better FB program vs. actually being a UL fan. I've seen nothing but realization that Jurich has smoked Barney in FB and that we need to get it together before WKU passes us.
When we are discussing hiring their coach, it means they have passed us.

No, you might be from a family of Cats or whatever...but you are a Card. Deal with it. Be proud of your school and their amazing sports teams.

If you never went to college, maybe you could inherit being a Cats fan from your Cat family, but you WENT to U of L, so you are a Card. And I guess you are content to be a filthy traitor to your Card comrades....whatever floats your boat I guess...but you know inside you are a fake.

I'm actually beyond the point of depression...it's when you start laughing at the product on the field that you know it's too far gone.

UofL is screwed if Jackson gets injured, and with as much as he runs, it's not statistically a low chance.

Well then none of this has been addressed at you. I'm talking about the guy who posted above...the one who said he was a Cats fan and he went to Louisville.

Are you even following the thread before you start name calling?

Oh deal lord...yes, I am following the thread. You didn't ask, but yes I have common sense and the ability to use logic. Yes you have brought me down to your level and beat me with experience. Pretty sure your original post started the name calling but I'm not gonna argue that because I'm pretty sure you wouldn't understand that either.

You are someone who is wrong about something, but that is OK. You are not a traitor or a bad person.

The guy above who went to U of L but cheers against his Cards is the one I called a traitor. (Or Packers fans from Chicago, who should just die as soon as possible.) They are traitors. I would say that is just a factual statement, but I guess you could see it as name calling.

People who should die:

1. People who came from Chicago but became Packers fans during the Farve/Rodgers era. Die.
2. People (over 12 years old) who put ketchup on hot dogs. Die.
3. People who cheer against their ol' Alma Mater. Die.
4. ISIS. Die.

I think I'm catching on.

Oh I don't either and wasn't implying that. I'm just saying he is 95% of their offense and they are screwed without him. I love watching him play and from all accounts he seems like a quality young man, just like Bridgewater.

Believe WKU passed us a few years ago unfortunately.
No question that WKU is better. When was the last time UK was ranked in a poll? Final poll last year--WKU was 24. This year, WKU is getting votes every week in the coaches poll. If WKU beats Vandy in BG, it will just enhance those numbers. UK hasn't sniffed a poll in years..... Until UK gets serious and hires a big time coach, I simply don't see it changing. We need the "Calipari" of football type hire to overcome this stagnation.

Not triggered at all...ketchup on a hot dog someone else is eating doesn't bother me to the point of wishing death.

No, I had to hear too much crap when I went to U of L, then Pitino showed up who I don't like. Won't ever do it. I don't hate them, I just don't root for them at all. Honestly I am pretty disinterested in basketball. I watch about half our games through the season and all of our NCAA tournament games, but I rarely watch any other basketball at all. I have probably watched more football games in the last 3 weeks than all the basketball games I watched last year. I am watching UK, U of L, and Alabama in college, and I usually watch Cincinnati, Green Bay, New England, Pittsburg, and Baltimore in the NFL.

This is exactly what I meant when I posted what I did.... It's my hobby, so who in the hell is arrogant enough to think they have the right to tell me how to enjoy my hobby? If you want that right, then you had better be handing me a check for at least $5K per year to bankroll my hobby. Otherwise, K. M. A - you don't get to call the shots. Shame does not even enter into the picture when it comes to this issue if you aren't contributing a penny to my hobby fund. And that not only goes for the OP here, but anyone on the UofL message boards with the arrogance and ignorance to attempt to tell me how I should act.

No question?

USC beat Vandy. Vandy just beat WKU at WKU (scoring 31). UK just beat USC.

I have questions.

I love UK and it my school but i cheer for UofL every game. The Cards are the only thing that motivates this AD office to do something. We are just hoping for 6-6
