After three years, finally try DP out on offense. Whether it be at receiver or in the backfield running a Wild Rebel type play or two, just give him a chance to do something. Though Croom is not at the point in the season where he has nothing to lose, he is a game or two away from getting there. Damn, try something different.

let the players play. We have absolutely nothing to lose so we should play with reckless abandonment for the rest of the year. Ball to the MFin wall.

Seriously, make better in-game decisions. Have a coherent and consistent plan for how we're going to win games. It really seems like this team is coached just based on Crxxm's knee-jerk reactions and whims.

Run Pegues in a wildcat offense package 10 plays per game. If you have to give him 10 plays off on defense to do that, then do it.

Try to find an offensive consultant to work with us on our QB play (to the extent allowed by NCAA rules).

Don't be afraid to take smart risks, but don't take stupid risks (sitting on the ball at end of the 1st half of the LSU game and punting at the end of the Auburn game being prime example of what NOT to do).

Keep Tyson Lee at QB, but don't ask him to do too much. Just manage the game, don't turn the ball over, and give us a chance to win.

Show some confidence in our team and make them believe in themselves.

1. Not be a puss and play aggressive but smart at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters.
2. Obviously throw more screens and wheel routes out of the backfield.
3. Get D. Robinson more involved in the offense (see #2).
4. Put DP at QB in a 'wild bulldog' formation.
5. Hold open tryouts for every student on campus to see if we have one that can actually kick the ball into the endzone on kickoffs.
6. Try going deep more than once per game. (It's been open and the ball has been there, we just haven't caught them)

I don't think Pegues would be very effective in the single wing. He's plenty fast, but he's not all that quick and elusive, and he doesn't seem to have particularly good vision. He's misses more running lanes than he hits.

1. Stop over-coaching the games (playing for halftime, punting from the 30, etc). Sadly, there's no current-season solution to this.

2. Focus on what went right in the LSU game. Build on that. But for heaven sakes, don't hang everything on the success of one matchup that was working for LSU - the pass to a RB. Next thing, some team will put their safety or an extra DB on the RB and that's no longer mismatch in our favor.

3. Keep throwing the ball downfield. I'm not saying become a passing team. But get more more 10-25 yard passes into the game.

4. Get Delmon Robinson the ball more often. If you need to set alarms on your wristwatch to get this done, then do it.

5. Start Ducre.

I watched several of DP's high school games. I thought he was pretty elusive.

He may have lost the edge by bulking up to play safety, but he was a hell of option QB in HS.

I don't see what could be lost by trying it a few plays. If it works, install more of it. If it fails, what did you lose?

It's mostly read the open hole and run through it. It's designed to confuse the defense as to where the run is going to hit and to create an open running lane more than to have a back trying to elude tacklers to get yards.

trying to coach your way to a good recruiting class (win some games and the recruits will be there). You had a good season last year by being conservative on offense, aggressive on defense, and waiting for the other team to make mistakes. You don't need the best offense in the country to win games or get recruits; just work on getting it better each week.

Well hell, that's news to me... I mean if you consider aggressive being that we had an outstanding rushing DE, then I guess I agree, but as far as blitzes, we may have done that once a game last year. I mean we are actually more aggressive this year with our 2 blitzes per game.

1.Wear my f'n hat straight.
2.Move #55 to the bench and replace him with anyone wearing 90-98.
3. Tell Carlson next time he pooch punts the ball direct to the return man.......there will be a code red ordered.

back there, then he'd have to give it to Dixon or Ducre at least some of the time or it wouldn't work. It's not that complicated, so after thinking about it, why not?

On the other hand, might as well let Relf try it too.

Let Relf be the QB in the wildcat and let Pegues be the receiver who comes across the formation in motion. Another option, have either Relf or Pegues at QB and have Delmon Robinson be the receiver who comes across the formation in motion.

Go into every single proffesors office on campus. Tell the proffesor's that if the have any male students from Latin America it is mandatory that they meet at the football practice field at 3pm Thursday. Have one half of the field set up for punting and the other set up for kicking field goals. Give them all a ball and tell them to start kicking or they will lose their student visa and be deported.

then I would try to find a QB coach to bring in and work with Lee and the others. I would probably have to give Pegues a shot at QB just to see how he looked. The Rabid Cur formation could get mixed in if it showed promise. If nothing else just not being so damn predictable. I'd expect the defense to get more aggressive, especially in 3rd and long. Like has been mentioned, I'd hold open tryouts for the kickers. If all else failed, I'd do my best to get G.Byrne to keep me around for another year because I don't think I could retire on 1 season's salary.

.....we accomplished that elusive task was at some point during the Sherrill tenure.

By the way, those disturbing Spring/pre-season offensive numbers yet again proved to be accurate in predicting what was to come during the season. Is there still anyone out there who's going to drink the kool-aid again next year if we once again suck during practice? Seems like our fans are just as slow at accepting reality as this coaching staff is at making adjustments that needed to be made 2-3 years prior. I won't even get into their total lack of "in-game" adjustments that they never ever make.

If it were me, I'd keep Tyson Lee at QB, try to find a replacement for Saulsberry- I would try moving Gates to tackle and Craig Jenkins to guard. If nothing else, it will make us bigger and more physical. I like the idea of Pegues in a wildcat formation, but also what about Delmon Robinson or Damien Anderson at the QB in the wildcat? Anderson played QB in high school as well. I would still probably go with Pegues first though. On defense, keep Tay Bowser on the bench forever. I would also give Zac Warden a long look at KO's, but probably end up keeping Carlson there.

and turn them loose to do their jobs.

Having graced this board, week after week, with their unfathomable depth of FB knowledge, I feel confident that this group of formerly anonymous message board posters would:

(1) Guide MSU to being undefeated the rest of the way, while scoring 30+ points per game on offense, and producing at least 1 Sp. Team TD and 1 Def. TD per game.
(2) Coach and scheme MSU to a resounding win in either the Music City or Peach Bowl and final ranking in the Top 25
(3) Then proceed to sign a Top 10 recruiting class for the Maroon and White.
(4) After signing day, walk down the hall and ask John Cohen if he needed any help during baseball season</p>

;)

I'd like to see us use the middle of the field more in the passing game. I'd like to see a five and 15 yard play in the middle a few times a game.

I would like to see some novel formations. I do think DP could help occassionally at wr or even qb. I would like to see Reif a few times a game. I'd like Carrol to get a few snaps also.

Worst play of the LSU game for me was lining up in the FG and punting. I say kick it or go for it there. That is a downright stupid formation, as we've got a great punter for pinning the ball inside the ten from close range. And we should just let the kicker try the damn fifty yarder. He'd probably make it.

I'd like to see AD explode more quickly. I feel that he gets caught on that slight hesitation when he looks for the hole. That works sometimes, but I'd also like to see him just explode into a pre-determined blocking scheme with reckless abandon.

Get the first down. After getting six yards on first down, go ahead and get positive yardage so that the first down will be likely. I remember one bomb during that situation that killed a good drive early in the game. Maybe that wsa our first series. Not sure.

We have decent skill players, except qb. So the main things we need to do are get the qb position going and continue to improve our line.

Of the posts in this thread, I agree with Patdog's the most.
