Anybody who doesn't say play both is nuts. Relf would be ideal if he could throw the ball, but he threw 20 yards in front of a guy on a deep post pattern. I mean, come on. we just don't have the luxury of running this offense with one QB right now.

It's not like Connor vs. Henig (we know things were done "the right way" in this situation). Until one of them does something to really impress I say give them both time.

u cant play a qb who has less than a 2% chance of completing a pass over 10 yrds. if u do, as is the case every time relf comes in, teams are simply going to stack the box, play single but tight coverage on the recievers, utilize one safety, and dare u to pass while sending more than u can block. it didnt happen tonight, but its a disaster waiting to happen. at least with lee u have some degree of success completing passes. he has to be our qb if there's any chance for another win this yr. though i dont really see any other wins on the schedule, given our secondary is likely the worst i have ever seen from any college football team!

kudos to the def coaches for mixing it up tonight though. that was promising!

multiple receiver sets with Bumphis, McCrae, Heavens, and Berry. I believe that Lee can spread the ball around if he gets rid of it quickly. Also put Bumphis in the Wildcat formation. Berry is a player and Heavens is lightining fast. Must use our weapons instead of pounding Dixon every series.

This game showed that Tyson Lee's experience and leadership were more valuable than Chris Relf's athletic ability. There's no doubt that Relf is a great athlete. But he's not an SEC QB. I know, Tyson Lee is shorter than everyone on the planet except Matt Roloff, but he has the intelligence and leadership that will help us win a few more games this year. For every play that Relf shows athletic brilliance, there are two where he looks lost.

With the game on the line, give me experience and leadership over raw athletic talent.</p>

Honestly, I'd feel best if we started working Russell in. We started running a check with me last night anyway, so why not play the freshman? At least he is a threat in the passing game. (Tyson Lee, I'm sorry to inform you, is not)

I want to see a balance offense. 200 yards rushing and 200 yards passing. I would like to see us get our receivers into the game more and more creatively.

Until we can find a quarterback who is able to throw the ball accurately and consistently while being able to run, we are no better off. Every time the pocket collapses on Tyson I sit back almost terrified because he gets swallowed up in the defenders and nothing usually happens. Relf can run very well, but he cant throw it either. We need to get out and find an SEC caliber quarterback and get them going. Bringing two knives to a gun fight can only buy you a little bit more time.

But I think it scrolled off the board fairly quickly, so I didn't see if anyone had an answer for it...

Has anyone besides Relf or Lee taken a snap this year (beyond the third-string QB in garbage time against Jackson State)? I'd love to see Bumphis or Heavens or even Dixon/Ducre back there for a play or two. Just something to keep the other team's D on their toes a little.

I was referring to our receivers. More plays for the receivers. More varied plays for the receivers. I think if we could do that, then it will make our offense more unpredictable and dangerous. It may help us make more of those 3rd down conversions and get into the end zone more.

...but maybe there could be a gadget play to start a game?

Seriously, Lee is the obvious option with Relf to fill in on occasion.

is to keep playing both. At least Mullen has enough sense to let Relf throw it enough and Lee to run it enough that it doesn't totally tip the play off. I would like to see Bumphis play some in a wildcat package or at least get a chance to throw the ball like he did one time against JSU.

Vandy has a pretty good defense- it's pretty much their MO, so I wasn't too upset about our offense. We moved the ball on them all night, and it didn't help that their punter looked like Ray Guy out there pinning us inside the 20 every time.

I was also glad to see us try to throw it deep a couple of times to stretch the defense, but our WR's and QB's couldn't hook up. If something upset me, it was the dropped passes and running a stretch play on third and 1 or whatever it was. But, everyone makes a bad play call every once in awhile. I was also against going for it onthe last 4th and 1, but we converted that, and it eventually led to our TD, so what do I know?

If Vandy had any semblance of an offense, they would be at least Peach Bowl bound.

Oh, and after a week of ripping Carl Torbush, I was very happy with how the defense played. I thought the goal line stand at the 5 was the pivotal moment of the game for us.

but this statement is ridiculous. This isn't even the worst secondary in MSU history. In case you were in a coma in 2003, I'll refer you to the Oregon, Houston, and Alabama games. There are more, but those 3 games prove my point.
