That Derrek Sherrod would likely be a higher draft pick than Anthony Dixon and Pernell McPhee, I'd have told you that you were an idiot. A number of places are now projecting him as a first rounder.

but Sherrod wasn't redshirted, so he is actually probably a year younger than most of the other tackles this year as well.

that have Sherrod rated as the No. 1 OT prospect in the country. The first OTdrafted in the last 5 drafts has been taken with pick #4 (2010), #2 (2009), #1 (2008), #3 (2007) and #4 (2006). So, if Sherrod is the first OT drafted, not only would be a first rounder, he may even be one of the first 5 guys picked.

It's probably hard for NFL teams to find good left tackles, just as it is hard to find them in college. What he does is valuable.

And he will compensated handsomely...

that we have a serviceable left tackle waiting on the sidelines for next year.......pretty important position to trust a freshman with.

has the potential to have a very large MSU contingent.

Sherrod, McPhee, White, and Wright all have a chance at being selected.

Like it's been said earlier, OT are extremely valuable in the NFL, and if he ends up being recognized as the #1 OT prospect, he will go extremely early in the draft. <div>
</div><div>On another note, has MSU ever had anybody drafted that early? I know Billy Stacey was picked 2nd or 3rd overall in the '59 draft, but I can't think of any others. </div>

The crackdown on contact by defensive backs on the receivers after 5 yards, the crackdown on hitting the quarterback, and now the crackdown on leading with the helmet have changed the game in the NFL. Teams used to move the football with the run and you needed a premier running back. Now, NFL teams are pass-heavy. That places a premium on QB's, defensive backs, pass rushers, and offensive tackles who can handle those pass rushers. Look at the salary increases over the last 15 years and you will see where teams are focusing their money. Running backs are now interchangeable parts. Teams are building around the passing game.

It's probably hard for NFL teams to find good left tackles
and then somebody should take the heartfelt secondary story from that book and make a hideous saccharine movie about it.

First Rounders: Walt Harris 13th and Eric Moulds 24th in 1996 Draft (95 season)</p> But yeah if you are talking top 5, then Cooks was the last one.
