Most public people are still crying foul too.
Could this be the year IHSA finally gets what it wants. Perhaps ICCP the only private champion.
1a,2a, 4a,5a Already guaranteed Public
3a - ICCP
6a - Prairie Ridge
7a - ESL
8a - GW ?
There are bad eggs on both sides for sure but let's not pretend there are not more public schools complaining. See every single public that got eliminated by a private. If you could only see the conversations by Wilmington fans after they lost to IC.Nope just one with the initials of HHS. I'm just hoping for more competitive state tile games which looks like we are headed for

I'd say 5A yes, and even 6A. Your talking 1000-1600 enrollment schools, often having to match up against a private school with a great history that are actively recruiting a metro area (NAZ, JCA, Montini, SHG all come to mind).I've said all along that in 3A and below (4A is some cases as well) the non boundary schools truly have an advantage. 5A and above to me shouldn't be complaining.

What you are too dumb to realize is this... in the downstate areas and especially in the smaller schools, a HUGE majority of the people agree with me.. and mot just fans, coaches and admin as well.. but in typical fashion, you never once thought that opinions in other areas could be different than yours..
You just can't respond like a grown up without the insults can you. I've been around this game plenty long enough without someone who chooses to just be rude.
Unless you're 12 I suggest trying to get your point across without the name calling. Probably helps your case. But according to you I'm dumb and a Db so what do I know.
You are the one that made the personal attacks, dont cry now when I am beating you with the facts.. Most people here are smart enough to see this is more of a small school problem, and then there is you..
Personal attack? I love it when you claim facts then feign personal attacks. I don't ***** about what I cannot change.
I coach and have always done so under the premise that if you wanna beat the best stop bitching like he world owes you something and get better. The whining about boundaries and recruiting and all that is just a shallow cry for entitlement.
The only teams entitled to anything are the ones that win their 14th game.
I don't require name calling to get my point across.

He's going to suggest separation. All the hand wringing about an uneven playing field, why not create a plan to change it. Or is that beneath you?
He's going to suggest separation.
Leave it as is. Nobody thought little Vernon Hills could compete with Naz and MCC. Do the privates have advantages? Sure, but every year is different. Makes it great when the public schools do make a run! Then at least that's not whining it's some kind of proposal instead of whoa is me, I can't compete with them. Based on most of their results the last few years, they can't compete with many teams.

So if you feel your school is being wronged why not leave the IHSA?
If you feel so short changed because your program is being so badly Mis-treated, leave.
The recruiting and zero boundaries aren't going anywhere. Unless and your AD can always do this, create a better proposal.

So you would rather go for the Bobby Brady everyone gets a trophy route?
OTOH, can you imagine the public school outrage if CCL schools capture the title in the top three classes?
ramblinman:
Good God..........the inconsolable will require a fainting couch.
I wouldn't have an issue if Loyola Fenwick and SHG win state titles - they would have earned them.
But before we start dusting off the trophy case some very formidable games are in their way.
No outrage about Open Boundaries winning the big classes. No outrage at all actually.
My biggest gripe about the structure of the system is that schools like IC are able to get 5A/6A level talent, play a 5A/6A size schedule, then drop into 3A for the playoffs and competly obliterate the field. That to me is kinda dumb and why I think football enrollment should be a factor in classification.
I'm not mad at the schools, I just don't like the system. IC was actually incredible to watch. Best 3A (or at least most explosive offense) I've ever seen. It will take some serious end of the world type inclement weather for them not to score 40+ each the next two games.
ICCP is already multiplied up TWO classes to be in 3A. Their actual enrollment is 300. This year, they would be the third largest school in the 1A field if they weren't multiplied.
ICCP has been playing in that hodge-podge conference of theirs since 2014. The first year, they didn't even qualify for the playoffs. Last year, they were trounced in the semis. How about they win their next two games and then you can really let loose on them.
You want to gripe about how they breeze through the playoffs? I assume you are also griping about Forreston breezing through 1A and Phillips through 4A. Phillips played five schools in the regular season twice its size or more. Three of those schools are at least 3 times the size of Phillips.

Relax Francis. I didn't attack ICCP. It's not ICCP's fault. They are well within the IHSA rules. Why are you getting all worked up?
BTW, - Are you suggesting they should be playing 1A? That would be a hoot.
Where would they be in your nebulous power ranking system of class determination?
I've been an advocate for a return of FB enrollment. For all. Even though it would likely push the team I root for up a class.
If poor wittle bitty ICCP can play (and dominate) 5A/6A sized schools all year then they should be okay playing 4A or 5A in the playoffs. I think they'd win personally. At least this year. Was that an attack on IC? Sorry.
Same rule would apply to Rochester....and Wilmington and Phillips and Fenwick and Herscher an
As for Phillips, they get the best of all worlds. Open enrollment and no multiplier. How dumb of a rule is that?
If a team from central Illinois does a co-op they assume the entire enrollment of the other school. Look at Watseka, they get about a half dozen kids from St. Anne and are rewarded with getting sent to 4A. It's a choice, but it's still dumb.
The rules are the rules, but they don't make any damn sense.
I'm not very in tune with what Forreston is doing. Didn't realize they were a story or a best ever type team like IC is being talked about. I know they are from a traditionally very strong 1A league. Looking at the bracket, it appears that they will be facing a Catholic school in the semis and another one likely in the title game...
How many kids do ICCP have on their team?

55 according to this website.

34 of whom are frosh or sophs.
Not sure what difference that make.
55 is a great number no matter what classification each kid is. Are their other 3A schools with 55 on the roster?

doctor_d:
Based on the past five-year period, from 2012-present, IC has compiled the records: 7-4, 6-4, 4-5 and 11-2. The football program is currently 12-0.
Could you please explain to me precisely how IC is able to "get 5A/6A-level talent?" Are you aware of any specific device IC harnesses to lure student-athletes to the school?
The conclusion I am drawing is IC appears to have a particularly talented team this year, but judging by their record over the past five -year period it does not indicate lordship over class 3A or any other class.
IC last won a state title in 2008.
It appears to me, now Montini has been dismissed from the playoffs, supporters of the punitive measures the IHSA has applied to Catholic schools are now directing their rage at Immaculate Conception.
