Where this gets dumb is this should be waived for anyone thats currently teaching at an Illinois public school district.

There’s a shortage of officials in all sports that is reaching epidemic levels, and this is what the IHSA does??? Unreal.
I've had to pay for a background check for a job that paid less than officiating. Big deal.

If they actually needed extra money for that it would be one thing...but they use it as a revenue stream and officials still don't even get new rulebooks every year

You people realize that one of the IHSA's biggest source of income is officials fees ?

Loose 100, then 500 then maybe 1000 officials at $50+ a pop you start to loose income.

According to the IHSA Form 990 in 2017, the IHSA realized $811,338 in revenue from "Athletic Officials" and $333,688 in expenses for "Athletic Officials."

Perhaps "this is the way it's done" but it sure seems odd that the officials are paying $447,650 for the right to work for a stipend.
