I'll say it again

Wilson has done a very nice job of adjusting in this game. We shut Hamilton down and basically shut Wilson down after those first two drives. Pretty sure that Hamilton has only had one catch the entire second half. Wilson has caught a lot of crap the past 3 weeks (and deservedly so), but the defense has looked really strong today since those first two drives.

I agree. That was our best defensive adjustment in I don't know how long. Everything finally came together on both sides.

Agreed...

The general reaction around here goes too far both ways, both positive and negative...Been a fever pitch of negative after the past 3 weeks.

While I have been annoyed by the scheme often this year, we are still a good defense. Underwhelmed our expectations a bit, no doubt... But Wilson has done nothing bad enough to cost him his job.

People don't realize that as of right now, we are still 2.5ppg better defensively than the best scoring defense Ellis Johnson ever gave us...and still(will be) a top 25 scoring D

That certainly surprises me. Good stat.

I'm going to look at more in-depth metrics and eventually start a new thread on it. My post doesn't really tell the whole story, because we definitely get more help from our offense than Ellis's D did.

Still goes to show just how much the standards have been raised by this coaching staff...

The biggest weakness in EJ's scoring defense is Woody McCorvey. Our offense couldn't stay on the field.

TOP doesn't tell the complete story either unless you can ignore the last quarter and a half of games when the score was out of hand.

I just don't understand how our scheme at the start of every game is so bad.

We were fortunate today that Arkansas's defense was bad enough to let us score and stay in the game. Our horrific defensive schemes to the start of bama and a&m gave us no chance to come back. Did we make adjustments? I mean Arkansas had 4 turnovers in the second half. That sure does make the defense look good.

I'm not saying fire the guy, but how is our original gameplan each week so far off? It has been this way all year. The opposing offenses do whatever they want. The only way our defense gets stops is if we force turnovers. I think you have to give him some credit for the fact our team does force those turnovers, but its very rare we see just a straight up stop and forced punt.

What about Nick Saban's scheme vs A&M? A&M scored on its 1st 3 drives vs the greatest defensive coach in college football. Both teams prepare all week- and both have to adjust on gameday
