Remember Malba as a wrestler but never knew this...Wow

Craziest story I remember is my Junior year in HS myself and 2 other recruits were flown down to Virginia on an Official Football visit...We flew down on a Friday and stayed till Sunday. We were scheduled to meet with Head Coach on Sunday before flight back to Newark...Come Sunday morning myself and another recruit met with HC and they had a Limousine waiting for us to go to airport...Problem was the 3rd guy was nowhere to be found...The University went on a Emergency alert to look for him...2 hours later and Right before we were going to leave they found him in a bush all banged up ( never met HC)...He was a mess and I put him over my shoulder and entered plane...he threw up the whole flight home and had to carry him out of plane and handed him over to his family in Newark...He ended up at UConn and had some very big games for them.

Couple years later I read he was given the Death Penalty in Georgia for a double murder

Middlesex County guy
Who is that? What time frame was the murder? Can’t find anything online.

Looks like the murder was in east Hartford Ct not Georgia. May be the reason my google query didn’t work.
1996 Hartford Courant investigative series titled “Ex-UConn Athlete’s Path Leads to Drugs, Murder Case”, which details the tragic downfall of George Boothe (often spelled “Booth” in some records), a former University of Connecticut football recruit. Boothe, a promising high school athlete from New Jersey, never fully played for UConn due to academic and off-field issues but was on a scholarship path there. His story involves drug dealing, addiction, and a brutal 1994 murder in East Hartford, Connecticut—not Georgia, as initially queried (likely a mix-up with other cases). Below is a comprehensive summary based on the original reporting and court records.

Man not a good name to choose. Came across 4 murders attributed to different George Booths. Also he’s from Jersey City (Snyder) not Middlesex County. Another reason an additional Google search didn’t work.

Saw that same article out of CT but it was behind a paywall for me. It came up with my search.

Also UConn does an amazing job of keeping their criminals out of the national news. There were multiple murders, thefts and major drug cases that came up with a simple UConn murder query. Crazy I didn’t hear of many of them. But a Rutgers guy has a parking ticket and it’s national news.

I don't think people actually are about Rutgers as much as many here do. When your a fan you think everyone is out to get you. When the reality is most people probably couldn't tell you what town Rutgers is in

I think the reason the ”Rutgers wrestlers” were so emphasized in this story because they were doing this when they were members of the team and at Rutgers lol Rutgers students were the ones placing bets with them.

Thankfully no one else named Booth ever killed somebody

Didn’t realize it but the Raimos and Cetta have a wrestling school in Montville called Ruthless , Joey Monticello mentioned he trains there in his beast of the east interview.

I’m sure all of their finances are under a microscope I wonder if the school gets shut down
