I'm a big Stans backer, but

today was on him.......

his team was out of control, got caught up in a wild up and down game after they were exhausted from Wed. night, and Stans didn't reel them in.

he freaked out, got pissed with about 5 minutes left and yanked Bost - 7 points down with 5 minutes left to play is not the time to have beckham at the point, riley at the two, Elgin in the post, and Osby at PF.

I know everyone was tired and playing sloppy, but call a full timeout, calm everyone down, and get your starters in the game - this was a winnable game at that point, and we flushed any chance we had (granted it was only a 1 in 4 chance) down the toilet. didn't see a whole lot of poise from coach today.

I'm with you. I think this team will be good, but we should have won today. My main gripe with him in today's game would be the fact that they hit one three and he got out of the 2-3 zone which shut them down basically the entire game... They began to go off again once we went man

Granted this is a game we should not lose...

the 2-3 zone worked in the 1st half but when we went man in the 2nd half it was after they had changed their offense and hit 3 wide open 3's in a row. We had to change.

Also the subs are the only reason we were not down 25 at the half so considering we took a 7 point lead in the 2nd but then quickly blew it I don't see any reason that bringing in the subs was a bad call.. Bost getting benched has been discussed in another thread.. he refused to look inside to JV and others in the 2nd half, I am totally in agreement with pulling him.

we were just tired. We had an emotional game Wednesday that was very physical. Down games happen.

A ****** performance on Wednesday is another matter. No excuses then

I thought the coaching down the stretch cost us a shot to win the game.
That, and Phil Turner's inability to decide what's a wide open look and what's not.

I agree with 34.

Great teams don't have letdowns like today, but perhaps we just have a rather good team.
I thought early on, they might have an emotional letdown after that shootout vs. LSU.
That was a tough game.
Cut them slack for now, tomorrow is another day.

If they have character, they will recover and finish strong.
If not, it won't matter.

Coach is right. We were tired, our legs gave out tonight.

No worries about this year.

Next year, if Stans doesn't break the second weekend ********, I'm off. I am not satisfied with making the tourney next year. We need to make a dent or we need to make a change.

No doubt the double OT took a lot out of our kids. Auburn starts 3 seniors and experience will overcome most young teams late in the season. I don't believe slowing the game down would have made any difference nor do I believe him benching a tired out of of controlled Bost had any effect in the outcome. This team has played with a lot of heart and character and so for has over-achieved. They have some tough games but I believe we will win about half of them, I also think having such a young team it is a grind for them right now. If you watch closely you will see Jarvis, Phil and Jarvis seem to have the extra energy that our young players don't have in there tank, it's because they are a little more seasoned and older.
Wednesday is gonna be tough as there point guard is the most dangerous player in the SEC to stop. Should be fun and I believe we will have to play our best game to win.

I also agree that next year is a must win year for Rick. The two best west teams will be MSU and Ole Miss and the east will be better with some maturity but if we improve like we should and Jarvis returns, we should make a run.

The only loss he was Stains was vs OM. LSU is a superior team and will beat 9/10 of the time. Auburn is an inferior team but after an emotional and physically draining game, it was expected that we'd play down.

Yep Wed is big. Come out flat and were back from Stans to Stains. I have to pinch myself to remind me that this is a really young and inexp team, they're not using their youth as an excuse but its still tough to win on the road w/a young team.

Stans' problems are usually when he tries to over-coach instead of letting the guys play, think he let them play and the shots just didn't fall. Not goin' after Stans after this one.
