I'm beginning to think our next coach is...

Wilson from Oklahoma...why?

1. Everyone is tight-lipped
2. His name isnt being thrown around
3. He wouldnt want anything leaked before the Big 12 title game
4. Byrne wants offensive-minded coach
5. We're more likely to hire a top coordinator than HC

After KPP (Kelly, Pete and Pat) he's my next guy. Bob Stoops has a decent track record with assistants.

I would have him as my 4 or 5 pick. Either him or Mullens from UF. If we are going to hire a coordinator, might as well hire one who scores 60 a game in the Big 12.

Douche - You have been all over the board on your picks... This is not the " Money is no Object " hire I would be in favor.... " Now Go Get Your Shinebox "

Wilson was one of the top 5 people I mentioned when I announced who the targets were...Hiring one of the top coordinators in the nation would be an OUTSTANDING HIRE for our school. Almost every successful head coach was a successful coordinator till he got his shot...

And you can damn well bet us having an open checkbook is going to get a great coach like this

Now there is a winner. Don't hire the guy from Oklahoma. Take the guy from Florida over him.

This, in hindsight, makes the Croom hire seem so stupid to begin with.

Mike Stoops: 22-33 at Arizona and firmly on the hot seat
Mark Mangino: 44-41 at Kansas
Mike Leach: 76-38 at Tech
Chuck Long: 9-27 at San Diego State and fired
Kevin Sumlin: 7-4 at Houston with Art Briles' players

I wouldn't exactly call that decent. Take Leach out of there and it is pretty ugly. Sumlin's sample size is too small.

He had the great year last year but this year was a disappointment. He just hasn't fared well in the conference. Even if you throw out his first year (2-10, 0-8) he's 22-26 in the Big 12, including 7-1 last year. So take out his worst and his best, and he is 15-25 in five years, with only one .500 record.

I agree he has done a pretty good job, but if he wasn't a jolly fat guy, he wouldn't get all the credit and attention he gets. Just like HD6.

could easily be mirror images of each other and the job that faces the new coach

Plus we have basketball programs that are similar.

Edit to say that "mirror image" actually means "opposite", but you intended it to mean "the same." I wouldn't expect a washed up jock sniffer to understand this though.

I agree, with MSU having a larger talent base to recruit from.

Mangino's first OC postion was at OU, Wilson has proven it at Northwestern, and has been succesful at OU.

If you think our program was bad, take a look at Kansas. I remember reading last year that they had to run people off the track that runs around the field before games Mangio's first couple of years on game day. What Mangino has done to make Kansas relevent is do something different, be unique. That is what we have to do at MSU, Jackie understood that with defense. Once the well went dry with defense and JC recruiting he had to do something different, and he couldn't.
To me Kevin Wilson would be a better hire for MSU at this time that Tuberville.
