before any bold predictions to see who we actually end up with on the team. Things look great now but I've come to expect the worst from our BB program during the offseason.

We only have two starters back MAYBE. You can't judge how well HS players will do incollegetill they hit the court.

Who just suggested to me we should be the favorite to win the SEC outright...

I'm not saying we're not gonna be competitive, but if anyone can screw up a talented roster, it's Stansbury.

isthat Stans has towin all but 1 or 2 non -conf games, win the sec west and contend for sec outright, and win at least 2 games in tourney with the "returning" players. if not, he is DONE. </p>

I like the positiveness, despite me being on the fire stans bandwagon. Veteran guards in Bost and Bryant; and seasoned, talented inside game. I like the idea of some high-low sets for Moultrie and Sidney since Sidney is a viable option from the arc.

I think the locker room will be better too. We know that Ravern and Kodi are both headcases, and they are gone. Think about it...the 4 years those 2 have been here we've done nothing but underachieve and look outworked on a regular basis. I'm not saying they are the sole cause of our problems, but they certainly are a piece of it. Outside of his NBA stunt Bost has been pretty stable. Hopefully Sidney finally has his head on straight. We'll have to wait and see about Moultrie and Hood.

I hate using the word, but it seems like there should be more "character" in the locker room.

than it has been in years- especially the West. SEC basketball will actually be worth watching in 2012.

to see some positive vibe. I'm with you 100%. As long as Bost comes back, we'll be anywhere from a 3 to a 6, and I like our chances with a savvy vet running point. The common theme among many teams that show well in the tourney is veteran, experienced point guard play.

only consists of the most vehement anti-Stans crowd. An NCAA tourney berth of any sort will earn him another year with the guys who sign the paychecks.

Alabama will be good if all their guys come back. Ole Miss will miss Warren big time and may be the worst team in the West. Auburn will continue to stink. Arkansas just does not worry me that much when Rotnei Clarke is their best returning player and they will depending so much on freshmen. LSU will be a bit better because quite honestly they could not be much worse.

I think the West will be a two horse race between State and Alabama. If it were not for Stansbury I would be be predicting us to win the whole SEC next year (assuming UK's freshmen all split for the NBA).

If we did set this race up, you'd be first in line for a Kenyan flag, you'd be starting a million posts about everything you think DS does wrong and how you'd do it better, and you'd start your own failed blog about running.

Arkansas returns 3 starters, and 7 people that played alot. They won more games than we did and have a better recruiting class coming in. They lose Marcus Britt and Delvon Johnson. There is no way they wont be better basketball team next season.

LSU returns 5 starters- and adds O'Bryant and a 6'11 transfer from Iowa St. There is no way they wont be improved next season.

Mississippi returns 3 starters, plus Nelson who came on at the end. Plus, they get the transfer guard from Memphis. Even with losing Warren, I dont know if they will be any worse. Probably NIT team again.

Auburn will be better, they cant be any worse. And they still beat us.

Bama will compete for the overall title.

The West will be very improved next year.

we still lack a 3. I'm not counting Hood as a starter till I see it. The West is bad in the media's eyes so we have to go 13-3 OOC and 12-4 in SEC play to get a 8 or 9 seed imo. We'd have to be somewhere around 26-4 with a run to the championship game to get a 4 seed or higher. I don't see it. Hope I'm wrong. 23-7 #9 seed vs USC with winner getting UNC in the second round.

They won 18, we won 17, and we played half the season without Bost plus beat their *** twice. Not to mention Sidney was never in shape. But, but they still one more than us.....

The West will be slightly improved because AU and LSU were so bad. OM will be the same or worse. If everyone returns for Bama they will be slightly improved and Arkansas should be a little better.

It doesn't change the fact that if Sidney commits himself to getting in shape there won't bea better tandem in the country than Bost and Sidney. Moultrie is a player. And Wendell has proved he can come off the bench and give us all important frontcourt depth.

ground over an extended period of time then its time for a revamp/changes/boost/etc.

Same with a business. MSU basketball has become stagnant. I'd rather swing and whiff trying than to sit on my hands staying mediocre.

but I'll counter that he doesnt make it out of the first round of the ncaa.

I'm sorry. Talent can take you far. But without good coaching, it will get you only to the 1st round of the NCAA's. With POOR coaching, it will sit your *** at home.

And with the talent we had with Roberts, and 2 years ago withVarnado, there is no 17ing excuse. None.

Next year will be not be more talented than those teams. There is no reason to believe we will do better.

I did not say the West would not better. I said it would not be that much better. Regardless of how many guys Arkansas, Ole Miss, and LSU return none of them are as good as what we will be returning. Bama and State will be far and away the class of the West.

These only way these teams will be significantly improved is if their freshmen step in and produce from day one. State on the other hand will not be counting as heavily on freshmen. If Hood or Smithcomes in and is good as advertised then that is just bonus. Also there is no 17ing way Ole Miss even makes the NIT next year. Without Warren they would not have won 12 games this season.

By the way, what was Arkansas SEC record this year and their record against MSU? I'll hang up and listen.
