but the Ole Miss women's golf team is fun to watch. They just beat Texas to advance to the Final Four. They were the overall No. 5 seed and caught a break because No. 1 Stanford was upset by Arizona.

Arizona vs. Ole Miss and Duke vs. Oklahoma State this afternoon. Winners play for the natty tomorrow.

I'm supposedly watching life on the Golf Channel and they are in a playoff with TX. Must be a slight delay in the tv version.

17’em and feed them fish heads. If I were the marshal, I’d keep a close eye on them using the old “foot wedge” and improving their lies when replacing the ball before putting. Them 17’s would try to cheat at a game of tiddlywinks.

completely agree. i hope she trips and falls on her ball. causing penalty shots and loses the match. 17 them. i've always said, i hope the OM women's badminton team loses. i don't care what game is on, if OM is playing, i'm hoping they lose.

17 them all

If they win, there should be an asterisk since we all know they wouldn’t have made it out of the Baton Rouge regional had they actually played.*

I really do hope one day we find out whose palms were greased by whom in that debacle.

I saw this topic earlier and assumed that Mutt being gone meant it would would go without a single reply.

5 of 9 from Europe, none from MS. I suppose that’s everywhere in women’s college golf, but just a hollow jersey.

Im not going to all of a sudden pretend to care about or be invested in women’s sports, especially golf. But you saying this implies that you would somehow care less or view it differently than if MSU was playing for a national championship tomorrow, and none of them were from MS. And while I can’t say for sure that’s not true, I highly doubt that it is.

We have two from MS and a few others from the South. We have a handful of foreigners too, like I said most do. Transfers right now are a mess. We keep up with women’s golf very closely and I’ll admit we’re pulling for ole miss tomorrow over Oklahoma state, I would like to see the SEC get stronger. My daughter plays junior golf and follows a lot of ncaa teams and players and has friends at some schools as well.

They’re hired guns, rented mule’s, or cam newton’s....take your pick of how you qualify.

Wife played college golf. So many women’s golf scholarships go unclaimed especially at smaller non d1 schools. Definitely a good investment to have your daughters playing golf could turn in to a golf scholarship or even get their LPGA card.

It’s getting tougher, lots of myths out there about that.

That’s cool! I hope your daughters love for golf continues to grow and she can find success in it. Tell her to come on down to Oxford and play for Ole Miss so boatsandhoes (great name, by the way) can pull for us, haha!

Good luck to her!

You managed to follow a dumb opinion up with an even dumberer opinion.

Hollow jersey- WT17?!? Since when do players need to be home grown for there to be meaning and validity to playing or success? Why would growing up in a state 250mi from campus be any more meaningful than growing up in a 100mi away in a neighboring state? You do realize a **** ton of MSU athletes come from outside Mississippi's border?

As for the hired guns comment...our best QB was from another state. Most of our best basketball players have been from other states. They arent hired guns any more than in state student athletes are hired guns. There is no rule that a university should recruit from a certain area and if MSU did limit players to only in state, we would suck more than we already do in a lot of sports- which I am confident you wouldnt like.

I think it only matters when you're trying to diminish the accomplishment(s) of another school. I think that's how it works, at least.

Are you saying there are not enough US girls golfers to fill scholarships at D1, D2, and NAIA schools(these divisions have scholarships)?
Of course there are enough US girls golfers to fill those spots. The problem is that there arent enough good US girls golfers to fill those spots.

Some US girls golfers will also choose to stop playing rather than accept an NAIA scholarship due to overall cost. They could accept a partial NAIA scholarship(how they are commonly handled- broken up) to a $30k/year private small university that nobody outside of a region of a state has heard of, or they could go to an in state university and pay $9k/year. So the option is pay $15k-20k to a small school and play golf with amenities slightly nicer than large high schools, or pay $9k/year to attend a nationally ranked university.
Neither option is right or wrong, but it needs to be recognized that kids have to choose.
Meanwhile, Petra Sovenberg from Sweden would be 'out of state' for the public university and if she accepts the golf scholarship to the small NAIA school, she is actually saving money versus trying to attend the US public university.

As for it being a good investment to have girls play golf because it could turn into a scholarship or even an LPGA card- da17? The odds of getting an LPGA card are so small it isnt even worth discussing so it clearly isnt a good investment. Sure, they may become good enough to play golf in college on scholarship, but the odds of that are also quite small.
You have an curious view of what constitutes a good investment.

Since forever. I remember how sour 2014 and 2015 was with a 17ing carpetbagger from Louisiana playing QB. We could have had Maikhail Miller or Anthony Alford playing QB and it would have meant something to them, and instead we got this damn foreigner that probably doesn't care about MSU at all.

So you’re officially in the “Don’t let women out of the house camp”? I knew you were a Mutt disciple. Welcome to the club. We already finished the sandwiches Jungrebel made, but there is still time for her to polish your rollerblades. **

Perhaps it was in bad taste

I simply said that 5 of 9 were from Europe. And also that most other golf schools also recruit women from europe. Arizona has done it almost exclusively with great success.

I didn’t say anything negative about out of staters going to school where they want in any other sport. I was pointing more at Europeans. I’m sorry that’s unpopular with you mr pgm.

Moving on.......Congrats to ole miss on a great accomplishment.

Congrats... maybe it will light a fire under our AD.

We’re looking good right now at least with Women’s golf, lots of improvement this year. We just got screwed at the regional and didn’t get a chance to advance. Our team has been playing great, came in second in the SEC tournament.

So its the foreigners who are hired guns and wear hollow jerseys, but the out of state folk dont apply to your general complaint. Gotcha.
That makes it seem like a much better opinion.***
