if you can seriously watch that game and tell me that Rick Stansbury has no idea what he's doing, then you are either lying, blind, mentally deranged, or all 3.

does not excuse an entire season of mediocrity. Unfortunately, the committee will probably agree with me.

BUT....why was this team 9-7? Do you not think we under achieved this year? I do. I am not in the Stans hater crowd, but the team I saw play UK twice should have won 11-12 SEC games in regular season and not lost to Rider.

he would rather feel pressure later in the season instead taking advantage of those patsy OOC games like Rider.</p>

I think he knows what he's doing, and I'm certainlynot on the "Fire Stans" bandwagon, but I sure wish he'd find a way to get his team to take care of business in the regular season instead of struggling to keep the bubble from bursting this time every year. It's just the lack of consistency that bothers me, but overall I'ma fan of Stansbury and the basketball program is the least of our problems at MSU.

Sometimes it seemed that he was struggling to find his mojo this season. It might be that he's been here long enough for both him and us. But the idea that we're going to replace him and maintain the excitement and level of his program is questionable at best. I do agree that it's possible, but I don't see how anyone could see it as likely.

I think we get into the NCAA, but it's just a hunch. Regardless, I've enjoyed this season in many ways. I hope there's more to come.

1. We have no leadership on the floor except in the form of a So. PG. I'm not saying that Swat or Barry are bad players. I'm saying that they aren't leaders. We need them to be, and they just aren't. Swat has his moments, but it's rare that he can take over a game inside because he isn't all that strong.

2. We had two attitude problems in Ravern and Kodi. Ravern sat out the most important game of the year against UK because he had his head up his ***, and well, Kodi is Kodi.

3. Phil hasn't stepped up as much as he did last year. Romero has been a bust for the most part. For whatever reason.

4. We had a ton of injuries that hurt our depth- Twany, Elgin, Shaun Smith, and Wendall Lewis all have been hurt this year. Yes, Twany sucks, but who would you rather have on the floor- him or Benock?

5. We had the Renardo Sidney distraction going on most of the year. I think that affected the coaching staff more than anything.

...This weekend, Stansbury beat the **** out of UF & Vandy, then took a squad with a bunch of future NBA stars into overtime.

Stansbury did all this with little depth, an injured point guard, a center without a back-up, & 0 future NBA stars on the MSU roster.

But 95% of the posters on this board do not possess the capacity to give credit where credit is due (34 & his pack of yelping Chihuahuas will drag this whole conversation down into a "what if" game, as you can see is already happening in this thread).

I believe you are correct and I also believe that Stans should have taken control much sooner of the head problems we had on this team. These are all factors but Stans should have been more proactive in addressing some of the ones he could control.

all the injuries we've had as well. Our backup PG was out all year. Any post depth we might've had was lost as well. Our 4th guard might start for Kentucky's intramural team. And twice, once basically a road game, we took a team with 2 or maybe 3 NBA lottery picks to overtime, and really should've won both games.

Yet, Utah State is going to make the tournament and we aren't, possibly, which is ********.

Amen.....plus, it seems a shame that Benock is thrown under the bus for one play.He is not a bad defender, but gets no creditwhatsoever.

...dumbass.

I give a flying 17 about "he should have done better in the regular season."

The freaking regular season is over. The SECT arrived & Stansbury had his guys loaded for bear.

Grow the 17 up.

the tourney is a totally different one than most of the games this year. I know you can't be on your game every game, but the difference is night an day in the tourney DAWGS and most of the regular season games.

while I will give Stansbury credit for doing a good job in the SEC Tournament, he gets blame for not getting control of the team until after an embarassing loss on freaking senior day.

We are limited talent wise and Stans has done a good job. Kodi is ahead case and he killed us again today by shooting poorly and not boxing out twice on free throws. We have to get something out of Osby and Kodi and we got nothing today. With all the bitching about Stans, we don't have one player who would start for Kentucky, and that includes Jarvis. Cousins and Patterson would start ahead of him. The game came down to missed free throws, a couple of sloppy turnovers, Walls miracle shot and also the zebras missin g another critical call with the Wall lane violation and the goal tending fiasco call in Starkville probably cost us a win there too. They talk about who we lost to, but Richmond, both Kentucky games, and the fact the SEC gets no credit is what hurt us. I find it hard to believe the SEC will only get three teams in and teams like Utah State and Cal only have one quality win. Utep's only quality wins are against UAB and how good is CUSA?
