I'm hating the UGA of last year analogy

UGA was an awful basketball team that found a bone in the SEC tournament. We hit a couple of bumps 2/3rds into the season, but going into the tourney, I felt like we still had a legit shot of winning the thing.

Also, I just looked up ours and Arizonas resumes just for fun (according to warrennolan.com)...

State:
23-12
60 RPI
4-3 vs top 50 RPI
7-5 vs 51-100 RPI

Arizona:
19-13
63 RPI
6-10 vs top 50 RPI
2-2 vs 51-100 RPI

Yet, we were not even considered to be on the bubble had we lost in the championship game, and if you ask me, our resume is much better than theirs, AND they got a better seeding.

it overvalues what was done earlier and doesn't take into account how well they are playing at the end of the year.

The committee was lazy - just stick the dawgs in the last spot and make no effort to seed us as we are playing now. That's fine for us, but sucks for teams like Washington. You would have maybe needed to move two teams to make us an 11 and had more balance.

...our RPI is #56 according to cbs sportsline, and we only got to that point because of the win. What I find strange about the whole seeding is that Boston College (a team that was projected by some to be a 10-11 seed) was given a 7-seed, and they're rated #57! Arizona is rated #59, but at least they're a 12-seed.1

_________
1And I don't think that Boston College and Arizona belonged in the tournament. Too many bad losses for both colleges. I mean, Boston College lost to Harvard!

shouldn't we have moved into the spot they had set aside for the last at-large bid.

...a conference champ auto bid that's a 12-seed. The committee could have easily taken the last bubble team out from the 12-seed, moved Northern Iowa up from the 13-seed, and put MSU at 13.

The RPI and seeding in the tournament is much more about who you play, not necessarily who you beat. If you play a ridiculous schedule that gives you a Top 30 SOS and you beat a couple of those teams, you can pretty much punch your ticket. However, if you play a weak SOS(75th or worse), even if you beat nearly everyone, there's a good chance you're being left out.
