He's aNOTHER former player (Ray is folding to Gray's requests and
keeping Grant on staff), one who has no previous coaching experience,
and is not very far removed from Stands himself.

He seems to be a good guy, and a smart basketball guy, but he's done
nothing to prove that he's worthy of an assistant coaching job at a
major university. If he gets a year or 4 under his belt at a smaller
school, then he may be ready for an interview. If Ray really wants to
come in and run his team with his own system, he will not have Shane on
staff.
