I'm not complaining, but...

It would be a lot more fair if we had to play Kentucky again tonight, with the winner advancing to tomorrow. I'm sure we'll be on the bad side of this situation at some day if this format sticks long term.

...this new bracket automatically bestows several privileges on the higher seeds.

Next year, I would rather see all 14 teams play in a single-elimination tournament than have to put up with this nonsense again.

UK was in a privileged spot and blew it.

So I will shed no tears for UK.

among the lowest 4 or more seeds, followed by the standard 8-team format that we've been using recently.

I think the format works great the way it is. You earn your days off with regular season performance. At the same time, higher seed teams have every chance to overcome the odds and get the most out of their pitching staffs. If we had to beat Kentucky twice today, that would have been unfair. Going to single elim at this point prevents a team such as ours from stretching a ridiculous stretch of games even more. I don't see how you could make it more fair than it is. I did think at first it was unfair, but I, like so many other of our fans, am used to the 4 team double elim. Getting ten teams in and adjusting the format makes this tourney better than ever. In the old format, losing a game was almost certain death because of having to beat the same team twice. The guys that set this format up deserve applause, imo.

..are awarded a bye somewhere in the bracket.

Having a scenario (the current scenario) where a team may be forced to play 6 days in a row does nothing but cheapen the tournament specifically & the game of baseball in general.

2 teams out of 14 don't make the tournament, and the other 12 use the basketball format. One-loss elimination to see who wins and at most you play 4 games

A 14-team single elimination tournament can be played over 5 days, with no team playing more than 4 teams.<div>
</div><div>Also, the basketball tournament will take all 14 teams rather than just the top 12.</div>

Wouldn't bother me at all. I really didn't even think about the basketball tournament going to 14 when I posted that
