He would have. He wouldn't touch the job with a 10 foot pole now.I don't think Booby P would make a bit of difference, no one can win here consistently.

Trust me, I'm not saying SC is better than UK this year.......you guys have had our number the past several years. I just marvel at fans calling SC a "sure win." I would not bet on a UK/SC game to save my life cause right now both teams are jekyll/hyde.
I do disagree about Muschamp........he is relentless in recruiting and he's a dang good defensive coach (wh/ SC has lacked the past 3 years).
Dude, get out of here. You're harping on what a bunch of fans said on here yesterday before we showed up and looked like trash (and after seeing what a dumpster fire of a team you have). Not the time to get high and mighty on a rival board.
There's no doubt our situation is a better landing spot than 4 years ago. A ton more talent on both sides of the ball, some of the best facilities in the SEC, etc. You can't tell me we can't lure a HC with what we have here now. I'm not saying we could get a Saban level hire by any means, but we could get a good HC. Hand them a blank check and have them to write down any figure they need to. Pay the man and make it happen. 7, 8, 9 million $. Whatever it takes to turn this thing around.
We can disagree, but I think the opporunity for success is higher at USC than Kentucky in football even today.
This just isn't true. Kentucky makes way more money, has much more exposure and a much larger fanbase than USC. That's not to say that USC doesn't have a high ceiling and can't get it done, it's just saying that both have about the same ceiling.
At one point, Kentucky was a pretty good football team. In fact, you could argue that even after 50 years, Kentucky has still reached higher places than USC has ever done.
I just hope both teams continue to improve and that Kentucky can get a freaking football team. There's really no reason for them not too.
You're obviously not done [laughing]
You would have a hard time winning a debate that UK has more football fans than USC. They average about 20k more in attendance per game. This just isn't true. I will always bleed Kentucky Blue, always. I've made my voice heard on several occasions, but obviously it hasn't hanged anything. This is all I know that's left to do.

We just got thru shrinking our stadium's capacity by nearly 10% because we couldn't consistently fill 70k.They also have a larger stadium.

I swear... You all are either really incompetent or in complete denial. Probably both.
I've watched UK football since I was a kid back in the early to mid 70s. Except for a few years here or there, we have looked the same no matter who the coach is. I don't see much difference in Stoops and anyone else we have hired over the last 50 years. At this point, I think hiring a new coach is just rinse and repeat. I find it hard to believe that every coach we have hired over the last 50 years have been poor coaches. I think it's more likely that even when we recruit well, we still can't recruit well enough at each position to field a good power 5 conference level team. In other words, we can't get a strong defensive line with depth and a strong offensive line with depth at the same time. It's extremely rare for us to ever have that kind of talent and depth. Stoops has improved the skill positions, but I don't think the recruiting of linemen has improved like it needs to. I haven't seen a coach though, that has been able to have consistently good lines since I've been watching UK football.
For the first time in my life, I'm losing faith that it can be done here. The time to build a strong football program was when the sport was growing and not every school was sinking money into it. Now, it's much tougher to build if you are in a power 5 conference. You almost never see a have-not become a have in a power 5 conference. It's a rare occurrence. Just look at schools like Purdue, Indiana, Iowa State, Vandy, Illinois, etc. If it was a problem that was fairly straight forward to solve, there would be several programs rise from their mediocrity and become consistent winners. I think it goes much deeper than a coach and a culture. I think it has to do with outside perception of the program and being able to convince enough excellent players to play here. We always seem to lack talent and depth at certain positions and it always means we are an average to below average team. I'm not sure how you go about changing that. I'm not sure without a lot of luck, it can be solved.
Hey genius, we couldn't fill it because our football program sucks! Look, I'm not getting into an argument with you of all people because I've seen your idiotic posts on the national football board.
I live in Columbia, so I think I have some idea as to USC fans. You probably live in your mothers basement.
I'm probably not enough of a historian to give you a good answer to that question. I can think of several that have, though, off the top of my head. Howard Schnellenberger, Blanton collier, Don Shula, Bill Arnsparger, Charlie McClendon, Mike Leach, and Lovie Smith. I'm guessing there are others, but that's all that comes to my mind. I do agree that we don't, or can't, attract top head coaches, as a general rule, but I doubt that it has always been poor coaching at UK that has doomed our program. I think it is more difficult to win here than many of us want to believe.Other than Rich Brooks, has any of the coaches that have been here had sustained success at a similar level after they've left? And Rich Brooks success was before he got here. I can't think of any. Even the assistants have only had spotty success at lower levels. I think that speaks more to poor hiring than whether it can be done here or not.

I would be interested to know your age just because of your optimism. Assume we go 8-4 next year. After the season we have started, that I hope ends up successful, but doesn't look good, do we keep a recruiting class together? Going 8-4 next year, but having a crappy recruiting class keeps us in the cycle we've been in. I agree, we will win more games next year. Will our program continue to get better is what people are discussing, and this year we need to be better. Getting beat by a CUSA with inferior talent first game is not an improvement.Ok, so if we shrunk our stadium because WE COULD NOT FILL IT, then why in the hell does it matter if they have a stadium that seats 20k more ? If we cant fill at 70k stadium, say we had a 110k stadium, bigger than USC's, would it matter ? No, so do not use "they have a bigger stadium" bs answer. You made yourself look stupid.
I honestly feel next year is the year. We just do not have it all together. We lost some key defense pieces to a all ready suspect defense for this year, so matter how good our offense gets, defense will cost us games. Write it down and time stamp this, we go 7-5 - 8-4 next year. Look at the 2 deep on offense and defense, we have NEARLY everyone back next year and will be upper classman, not soph / freshman with jr's sprinkled in.

Isn't this the entire point I've been arguing?
The rest of your post is just babble based on your overt personal insecurities.

How can you say you're still die hard if...ah, never mind.
Hasn't this been the M.O. Of the administration historically?Just cancel the football program and give the money to basketball ,then us football fans can pick a winning program to follow!
I agree with many of your points and am probably about your age but it was not that long ago we went to consecutive bowls and played fairly competitive football in the SEC during the Brooks tenure once the probation years were behind us. It can be done again, if Barnyard will get the hell out of the way and UK will hire an experienced head football coach with some decent credentials. Nobody expects UK to challenge Bama for SEC supremacy, but we should at least compete with the EKU's, WKU's, South Carolina's and Vandy's of the world.I've watched UK football since I was a kid back in the early to mid 70s. This was also stoops poops reputation going to UK. And you do realize Muschamp was handed all the talent in the world at UF, he didn't even need to bring in talent. And still sucked major donkey walls with all the talent in the world? I guess you'll find out soon enough how bad Muschamp really is if you didn't notice how bad he was at UF losing with all the talent a coach could ever want. I remember how many talking heads were just in absolute shock and completely dumbfounded by the hire SC made with Muschamp. It was like damn, a rebuilding program is really hiring that terrible HC to turn things around? If you got that much hope in muschump, then you might as well give up your fandom cuz the man might be worse than stoops considering he was putting up Mark stoops type numbers at Florida with a million times more talent. Which is just sad to be honest.
He was ran out of town by a wild mob with pitch forks and you think he's the man who's going to turn it around? You remind me of a lot of the stoops poops supporters who apologize for him after every loss. So what stoops is a great recruiter and the DC for the #1 defense in college before coming here. Doesn't make someone a good HC. I always use muschump as the example as to why stoops isn't going to pan out here when discussing to our fans why he sucks. I guess since its year one in the honey moon period you're as hopeful as can be. But just realize it is what it is, hope, wishful thinking, just something that ain't gon happen my friend. That's why we call it wishful thinking.
