... we landed Duval and Knox ... we'd be pretty killer. Especially with Bolden coming back and seeing him develop a work ethic (I think one thing K had to impress on him is the need for him to work extra hard in the off-season and develop a good work ethic in practice - his size and athletic ability has great potential).

I think one of the key to the OAD guys is K getting both them and the upper class players to play unselfishly. Letting them play - as they isolate one on one - is neither as effective for the team's success nor as effective for the mentality of the players. The more they play as a team and unselfishly the more they will draw the attention of the NBA.

Let's Go Duke.

And, as always,

Do we really know that this was an issue, or is that just sour-graping from the brief period of a transfer rumor everyone flipped out over?

There are things that are very difficult to change in a human being, and a work ethic is one of them....

But its not impossible....

Fingers crossed here.

I'll be excited if:
- Duke lands Duval & Knox
- Bamba somehow comes to Du
- Duke finally plays with 2 bigs
- there is an 8 man rotation
- everyone stays healthy

Are you implying I am sour-graping over the transfer rumor?

I've never done that with a Duke player, ever. Grow up some day and stop implying crap like that in people's posts.

The work ethic question was raised by several others - some more in the know - during the season on this board; on his play on the court - which was lackadaisical at times; and how K handled him. He has all the size and physical talent necessary. A big part of work ethic is attitude and team orientation. If he had a nose to the grind stone attitude as a team player he'd be getting more time than Vrank.

College basketball has always been about watching kids make big leaps...sometimes very unexpectedly...it is one thing I've missed with all of the one-and-done talents that people view as "needs" these days.

This board was never more depressing then before the 2010 season...Duke doesn't need anything but kids who play for each other...there is plenty of talent.

I just want Duval and Grayson and Jackson back and let it roll !! .some sophomore improvements!! .imo if that happens we have a chance ..that's all you can ask for..Starters -Duval Jackson Grayson Bolden Carter. That starting 5 is as good as anybody imo.. Bench - Trent Vfrank/JD/White < couple of these guys are going to have to be good role players ...please make some leaps !!' Just 1 would be great!! 2 would mean we're a serious contender!! 3 means final 4 caliber!! Add Banba Knox is cool with me and the bench would change ..We have a shot if things go right ..We also have a shot at being a down year based on what happens in these weeks ..Hey if it's a down year though that means guys get to develope that wouldn't have played and well be better next year because of it with less transfers so I'm content ..Goat always finds a way ! Let's go!! Feel like I'm forgetting somebody..I really feel like White is going to be good! He just has that Grayson Allen freshman feel ..He has confidence and that's huge! He came in and didn't look rattled hit a 3 I mean that's huge for a guy like him.. I really like that guy and think he could surprise some people ..y'all know what I'm talking about you just know a player has it when you watch them ..I've been wrong before though ...who would have thought Grayson would have that sophomore year though so anythings possible ..confidence is the most important thing ..When you relax your so much better..we'll see ..excited!..already ..long wait...:(..I know one thing though I'm not going to do what I did last year and set myself up for failure with expectations and demands and hype without seeing them play ...hoping for an injury free year...

I'll wait until all said and done and the first scrimmage before I have any expectations.

There is a chance Duke can be good next season but I'll hold off until next season
for me just want to get to the regular season without half the team injured

Jake -- what Duke fan wouldn't be excited over those?

Just give me the last line and Duval. Those are the two most important and everything else is gravy.
Timo -- I was kind of thinking just the last two lines:
- there is an 8 man rotation
- everyone stays healthy

The first one is a coaching choice, but it would help with the second one.

I'll be excited for the season to get here so we can find out what we have, but I went overboard this year convincing myself that this team would go down as one of the best ever. I know here were a lot of issues, but I will try very hard not to let myself get overly excited until we are playing in April again!!

I don't know that it was an issue, but I questioned it long before the transfer rumor. Anyone that watched him play this year would question it.

I'm thrilled to have him back. I hope for his sake that he can get it together. He stands the chance to make a good living if he can prove himself.

Am I out of my mind for now thinking Knox is not coming to Duke becuase of his "Go Heels" tweet?

No you're not....Thought same thing. Even if we don't land Knox (and I think percentages are slipping), I am not going to be too down. We will still have recruited a big, the best SG available, and I think we get a legit stud of a PG in Duval....Put these together w/Grayson staying, and I would be thrilled....

I just want Duval. Coach K is only focusing on Duke basketball this off season instead of an entire United States International Basketball organization. I think will be great regardless next year. Im hoping Delaurier and White will add depth and defensive flexibility off the bench. Jackson would have a breakout offensive season similar to Kennard, Mike Dunleavy, Grayson Allen, and Will Avery during the sophomore. Trent and Carter will add alot more defensive toughness than expected due to their big physiques.
Grayson will have to add the leadership for this team.
Starters:
Duval (hopefully)
Jackson
Allen
Carter
Bolden
Bench:
DeLaurier
Trent
O'Connell
Vrank
White
Robinson
I really Duke with Duval and Jackson together. A bigger more athletic version of Williams and Duhon. I like the potential greatness of this team with a real point guard. With players like Duval, Trent JR., and Carter, Duke should be a great rebounding team.

Enjoyed your post and gave me a good feeling about next year with a huge mitigating factor-getting Duval. I know Arizona is getting in on the action, and Kansas is still a strong possibility. I think his recruiting is going to the wire...,OFC

How are you guys feeling about your chances with Knox? I've believed for a while now it was down to you guys and UNC, and with Jackson now leaving I might lean towards them a little bit.

Also, any word on a Grayson Allen decision?

Hi new here. Really hoping Jackson comes back but if not would love Duval and Knox. All 3 would be incredible but not sure that will happen. Go Duke!

Well it's getting closer and closer to hearing about Duval & Knox. Once that happens, let the smiles begin.

Here will be my first one...
