I'm really concerned that we'll get swept at LSU this weekend...

with our current lineup. Just very little ability to score right now with Bradford and Norris out. We will need to have someone pitch a gem to avoid it. Tonight our only runs have come off a HR from a guy we were planning to redshirt.

Cohen gets a pass cuz he likes to yell & cuss (and I got no problem that he does). I hope he succeeds but it ain't lookin' all that promising. How many years does he get to dig us out of the hole we were in?

starting tonight. Cohen's seat is gonna get warm this season.
He made the sweet sixteen last year, and almost made the elite eight. Several guys graduated, lots of youth on this team before the injuries.

Next year, different story.

..it's amazing how they turn on a dime & start bashing a baseball team that is currently missing its 4 best players.

We have people dropping like flies. This is a totally different team with Daryl and CT in the lineup.

CT should be back pretty soon- possibly as soon as this weekend. Personally, I think CT going down hurts worse than Norris from an all-around standpoint.

We were starting to get into a good groove offensively when they went down. Going into tonight, we were seventh in the SEC in hitting as a team.

As far as tonight- we made way too many mistakes in the form of errors. Not just fielding, but balks and things like that. We eliminate those, we win. Hitting into a triple play was a huge play in the game and that was crappy luck. Hit the ball hard right at someone with the runners in motion- killed the inning.

We just have to weather this right now and we can not make the mistakes that we made tonight because as everyone knows with less offense, we have a smaller margin for error.

We also should get Norris back before the end of the year- probably around the mid-point of the SEC season - and that will help us out a lot. We just have to weather the storm until then.

Our team is young- but it's young because Cohen went after a ton of JUCO hitters- which I never liked. It did yield a Super Regional, so there's that. What's going to happen is we are going to get the players that we have now older and then have younger players come in behind them where we have some depth and we won't have to start a bunch of freshmen and sophomores.

is fine its baseball. We have a good pitching staff that will help us for the first part of sec, our hitters will adjust and we will win some games. Play us during post season and we are scary good. I think this staff and next year could be gooooood.

in Polk's last three years. We look better and we play harder but we haven't seen any results that were any different than Polk. The jury is still out.

Take the entire starting outfield, starting 3B, and a key pitcher out of ANY team's lineup and see how good they are. Even FL would suffer if they had a rash of injuries like we have so far. That said, we miss CT the most. We just don't have a dynamic leadoff hitter without him. Based on what I've seen, I think we need to switch Henderson & Frazier in the lineup immediately. I love Frazier, but he's much more suited to bat in the 2-hole than leadoff. Henderson's speed & OBP are impressive since he's been playing. I think he's got the best chance to be the leadoff hitter we need until CT is ready to go.

i don't know if you post this **** to be funny or that you are really that delusional. we haven't played one 17in sec game and are without 2 of our best hitters a year after being one game away from the 17in cws. reekris. i wish i had the authority to wield the ban hammer.

just said I was specifically worried about this weekend with everybody still out. Even if we can get a productive Bradford back in the lineup it would help. Going to take some monster pitching to win scoring 2 to 4 runs per game.

pretty terrible last year and we were one decent pitcher from the cws. I would say that by the end of the year, our hitting won't be much different (than last year's hitting). The pitching staff is a great deal deeper, too. Let's see how things work out before we go jumping off any bridges.

Polk's last 3 years: 98-78 (38-51 SEC),2 regionals, 1 super-regional,and 1 CWS
Cohen first 3+ years: 99-91 (29-60 SEC), 1 regional, 1 super-regional

I know Cohen took over a disaster, but it's year 4. It's time for him to start producing. I know we've had injuries this year, but the schedule has been so pathetic that 4 games is a lot to lose, even with the injuries.

Jury should still be out on him. Having said that it certainly appears we ate headed in the right direction. But, injuries and lack of depth should not be an excuse in year 4. And, let's be honest, the goal for this team should be to be at .500 in SEC play this year. I just want to see us smack in the middle of the pack and I'd be thrilled.

Do we have a Jarrod Parks in our lineup? Do we have a Nick Vickerson who catches fire in the postseason?

If those two answers end up being yes, then we could be successful, but I wouldn't bet on it. But it's possible. All it takes is a few hitters getting hot at the right time because our pitching will keep us in it.

But I think it would interesting and more fair to compare Cohen's 2-4 season with Polk's last three. Cohen's first season were with Polk's players that he inherited and basically none that he recruited.

We'll have to wait until the end of the season to do that.

But he should get a pass because he took us to a Super Regional last year with a less than full deck. That pass only lasts so long and we'll see what happens going forward. I think if Cohen has a losing season this year, he would and should be on the hot seat.

As far as the injury "excuse"- I think the thing that people are losing sight of is these players are all supposed to be back by the end of the season. So, it's more an issue of weathering the storm for a little while than the season being over.

Heck, CT is supposed to be back next week.

There are more than a few players on the roster (a few that are currently hurt, but should be back) that very easily have the ability to produce as these two did.</p>
