Im starting to really hate this coach search...

if we go through 4 or 5 candidates, i'll probably be disappointed by the time we announce who we're hiring. but if i can forget about it, i'll be ecstatic about who we hire, especially when comparing him to our former staff.

then im pretty sure we have. Mullen does not want to stir things up right before the national championship. I don't blame him. Im pretty confident we have been talking to him though.
Where are the sources from Friday, or even the ones from Saturday saying that "this Petersen thing is over?" If I had some SOB tell me bunk information I would be all over his ***, so maybe they are afraid to talk today. Nobody knows anything and it pisses me off.
needs to stay in the Bond movies. If we are tossing some big coin around then I would expect interested parties to come forward.
we wouldn't declare his successor to have super powers that may or may not exist. That's where this thing started going downhill if anyone here wants to hear the hard truth. We gave Byrne (probably unfairly) the rock star treatment for simply doing AD work like it should have been done a long time ago. Has Byrne shown good characteristics? Of course. Bringing back a former player who just happened to be one of the hottest commodities in college baseball was great. Getting things rolling to build a monster video board was great. However, recruiting a former player who would have crawled to Starkville to coach baseball at MSU and recruiting the next football coach at MSU are uncomparable. It may take something besides superman powers to ever make a jaw dropping hire. Expectations simply got out of control among our fanbase. As crazy and backwards as it may seem, there are alot of factors that drive a coach to go here or there besides money.
Maybe this is the negative consequence we all feared and thought we skated for firing Croom. We all wondered why the media was being so quiet about the first black SEC coach getting fired in the state of Mississippi a year after being named SEC COY and posting a winning season. Did we really think we would get away with it? The rest of the nation remembers when the national guard had to be called upon to desegregate our university. They aren't about to let us get away with having a slave owner as our mascot. They sure as hell aren't gonna let us get away with having the rebel flag as our unofficial school flag. The rest of the nation is not going to let us slide on this one. Maybe if we as a school had a history of being more sensitive to racial issues, then maybe the school would get more credit from the rest of the nation. Maybe if we as a school had defied a racist governor and took our basketball team to play in the NCAA during the heat of the civil rights era. Maybe if our first black student had been enrolled without incident and without having to call troops in to enroll him. Maybe if we had been the first SEC football team to hire a black head coach. However, those facts are just not true to anyone living outside of the state of Mississippi.
LT had to have done the bulk of the work to get that screen to MSU. I have always thought that people were giving way too much credit to Byrne for work he really hasn't done.
