But how in the hell do you let a guy drive right to the rim virtually unopposed with only 8 seconds left? Yeah, I know we've got the best shot blocker in the history of college hoops on our team. Still, the odds of making a layup >>>>>>> jumper. I still can't believe we didn't press after Randy hit the 2 FTs. Or at the very least, put Randy at the halfcourt stripe and let him pickup the ball handler. In all seriousness, someone explain this to me.

My only other real gripe was leaving Turner in the game coming down the stretch. Why not play Osby at the 4? He had played pretty solid D all day and would have given us some extra height & length, which is where they had the advantage today.

What's funny is I just watched the replay of the ending of the game with my 9 year old who also plays basketball. His first words to me when he saw the ball thrown in with 8 seconds left was "Daddy why aren't we pressing? You have to press in this situation." Funny what a 9 year old notices and our coach doesn't understand. When teams underachieve this badly you have to put some of it on the coaches.

we are M-State and we can't possibly do any better than Rick Stansbury as our coach

I knew the game was over as soon as I saw that we weren't pressing. Letting them drive the whole court like that just blows my mind. What goes through stansburys brain during games? I really don't think any other coach in the world would not press and let them run the whole floor uncontested to get a layup with only 8 seconds left. That was one of the worst things stansbury has ever done, or didn't do.

and I cannot tell you why we didn't pressure the ball more other than maybe Stansbury was worried more about giving up an easy layup to one of the post players cutting to the basket. There is a point when Drew came across the pick that Phil was right there and could have helped Vanardo stop him at the head of the circle, but he went back to his man instead. So, Drew goes around the pick and lays it up in the sky over Vanardo.

Stans should have called for a mid court press in my opinion but he did not call one.

I know you are pissed that everyone doesn't agree with you in your belief that Stansbury should be fired, but it doesn't mean we don't think his **** doesn't stink either.

I bet he was/still is your idol and taught you how to coach Jr High kids in academy ball. Yep, that certainly makes you an expert.

And for the record, I have never stated that Stans was blameless. The buck always stops at the top. I do disagree with your compulsive obsession with hating Rick Stansbury.

Sorry to feed the toll

i'm sure stans had called an iron clad full court onslaught after the made 'throws. the players just refused to follow the command.
