1. Bama to roll into Red Stick and arse rape the Cajuns and come out of Death Valley full of confidence
OR
2. Do I want the Cajuns to be Ragin and thump the Tide and have Bama come out w/ their confidence in question?
My heart says go Cajuns but my head says Go Bama cause if Tide loses I'm afraid Saban works their arses off next week and they roll us. Discuss?

I am pulling for the Tigers. As DS mentioned, we can afford a mistake in our final 3 SEC games if Bama loses this Saturday. Ultimately, we need to take care of business regardless of this weekend's outcome in Tuscaloosa. Mullen and the team better be foaming at the mouth for our game against Alabama.

Geaux Tigers. Bama is gonna be as ready as they can be for us, anyway. I want the extra game to play with.

In the Saban era, Bama plays like **** the moment they're out of championship contention. We want LSU to win in order to give us our best chance next Saturday.

I agree, but if they lose to LSU and beat us and Auburn, they still have a chance to get to ATL.

I want LSU to win because an LSU win means we can afford to lose to Bama and still win the West. The concept of whether a team wins or loses one game significantly affecting how they play in the next one is way overrated. By that logic, Mississippi should have beat Auburn last weekend.

If LSU beats Bama, then we would have to lose to Bama AND Ole Miss for Bama to go to ATL. I, along with any MSU fan, should cheer for LSU simply because it would mean that we would have to beat EITHER Ole Miss or Bama.

Let the chips fall as they may, but keep in mind....

that should Alabama lose, we'd have to lose two games to be knocked out of the SECCG.

We control our own destiny. It is our destiny to win out. What other teams do is irrelevant.

I hope the Bama - LSU game is a hard hitting slobber knocker snot bubble blowing affair. I hope it's a scoreless tie at the end of regulation and they play 8 OT periods before one of them finally wins by a score of 3 - 2. I don't care which one wins.

I'm thinking we want bama to lose here. The minute they realize they won't be able to play for the national championship, they hang it up. If Bama wins, we play right into their hand. They are used to big time games. They beat LSU, they look to us as an almost locked in spot for Atlanta if they win. They are used to big games that mean a lot. We want them out of contention and not really giving a damn. They lose to LSU, all they will hear from their fans is how awful everyone is and how awful of a bowl game they will go to that they don't even want to play in.

3-2 score in overtime is almost impossible

Has anyone ever scored a safety in college OT? Also, geaux tigahz

I see no benefit to us if Bama wins. And for those worried about getting a red-assed Bama, as someone else mentioned, once Bama is out of NCcontention, they're not as dangerous.

I don't care who wins

But I want it to be a close, physical, emotional game that comes down to the end. I want Bama to be beat up and on an emotional high/low, whatever the outcome. I feel like that happened to A&M the week before we played them. Arkansas had them beat but A&M found a way to win, and I feel like that took a lot out of A&M physically and emotionally.

LSU winning out is better for State in the playoff hunt if State loses at Bama.

Stat of the Day... Bama is 0-3 this year against the spread as a road favorite this year and 1 of last 7. Bama is young and not very good on the road. A reason they are not in the Top 4.

Not sure about the history, but 3-2 in OT is impossible, not almost impossible.

Team A starts with the ball, Team B gets a safety, Team B wins 2-0 without going on offense.

Team A starts with the ball and scores a FG up 3-0, Team B gets the ball, Team A gets a safety. Team A wins 5-0.

Team A starts with the ball, doesn't score. Team B gets the ball, Team scores a safety. Team A wins 2-0.

Bama will be ready for us next week no matter what happens in Baton Rouge. So I'll pull for LSU not only because it gives MSU a mulligan if we get upset in Tuscaloosa (boy it felt weird typing that), but also because I hate Alabama far more than I do LSU.

It would also be damn near impossible to surrender a safety in overtime, considering you start at your opponents 25 yard line. That would take a truly special level of ineptitude.

Of course we control our own destiny. But if Bama loses to LSU, we gain some margin for error/loss. And that would be good.

If they lose in Red Stick, their season is over in some respect. This is what happens when you HAVE to win championships every year. A two-loss bama helps us, and right now the only thing we should be focused on is getting to Atlanta. We take care of business in Atlanta, everything else takes care of itself.

17'ing this! Chokelahoma beat them last year because they didn't have their heart in it. A 2 loss Bama will team will mail it in the rest of the season. To them there is no use in playing if you aren't playing for a championship. LSU is going to be on fire. Bama shows it is vulnerable against an option/mobile QB.

So an "upset" is based on Vegas rather than ranking? Seen it used both ways.

If you use Vegas, is it the opening line or final line that is the barometer? Sometimes the favorite flips during the course of the week.

Many will tell you that the opening line is not a declaration of the favorite or expected margin of victory but is geared towards getting more dollars wagered and balancing the wagers.

No big deal either way to me.

Indeed it is impossible but should it be? If the defensive team scores in the first OT series the game is over but shouldn't the other team's defense be given the same opportunity to score too? Sure the other team would go into 'victory formation' but then they don't call the game in regulation when that happens they make em play it out. Oh, wait a minute, the defense would have to intercept, run it down the field and drop-kick for three points......Nevermind.

Just nutty Friday afternoon rambling (EDT)

Oh, and GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This week only.

17 Bama.

17 Saban. 17 their statues. 17 their rings. 17 their houndstooth. 17 their air of superiority. 17 their sidewalk fans whose only validation in life is Bama winning a national championship. I'm glad they lost to Stoops and Oklahoma. I hope they lose every time they touch the field. I hope they lose in a fashion that makes Ole Miss fans say, "Damn, I guess the Auburn game could have been worse."

17 em. 17 em hard and dry. Geaux LSU! And then next week, we handle our bidness in T-town too.

You guys are getting as bad as the Ole Miss faithful with all this spinning of rhetoric. You can bet your bottom dollar that ESPN is going to have "UPSET IN TUSCALOOSA" scrolled across their webpage if we get beat. Anytime the #1 ranked team falls its going to be billed as an upset, and that's exactly what this would be. Especially since its a unanimous #1 this late in the season with an undefeated record.

After more thought, a 3-2 score at some point during an OT period is possible (improbable, but possible).

Team A gets the ball first, scores a field goal. 3-0 Team A

Team B gets the ball, gets near the goal line but turns it over, Team A while trying to advance the turnover runs back into the endzone and gets tackled, resulting in a safety for Team B. 3-2 score Team A.

Now, I couldn't find any rule on what would happen after this. Not sure if the game would be over since the turnover constituted a change of possession, thus ending Team B's one possession. Or if Team B would get another series.

I kind of want this to happen now to see how the refs would sort it out.

save yourself the agony. i know we all like to pick and choose who to pull for to make things interesting (myself included), but its irrelevant to the outcome of the game who WE choose to root for. it doesnt matter. que sera sera and whatnot. just a friendly reminder not to waste too much time worrying about it.
