Maroon/White vs. Maroon/White.....Cowbell vs. Cowbell....That would be a loud game and it would be hard to tell which team had more fans in attendance

We have similar backgrounds, Tx A&M, ....Mississippi A& M, this is the key
We both had the same coach X3 in Shira, Ballard, and the Kang.
We both have to fight the flag ship...so to speak.
The list goes on, and on.......
Just a lot of similarities.

The University of Texas uses cowbells (real wimpy ones too, no handles they just jiggle them) not A&M.

Sorry guys, but TAMU does not ring cowbells. They are a school of great tradition, but cowbells are not one of them.<div>
</div><div>Texas Tech's main spirit organization ("Saddle Tramps") do ring cowbells during football games. They also ring "Bertha" -- the big bell on the side lines. This pays homage to the fact that our fight song ends with "and the bells will ring out" and the bells in the old bell tower on campus ring for thirty minutes whenever one of our sports teams win.
<div>
</div><div>The one tradition (if you want to call it that) that TAMU has that drives me nuts is the Corps of Cadets. The organization itself doesn't bother me -- it is a big part of their history; however I have heard from many who were in the Corps that they deserverespector are "military" because they were in the organization. Excuse me, but until you go actually fight on the front lines, you can bite me. </div></div>

and our mascot (at the time) became the Aggies before TAMU (I think only by a year or two). <div>
</div><div>Both our schools have very rich military traditions and a lot of our old traditions matched up with theirs. We used to have "yell practice" the night before games, our marching bands were composed of ROTC groups, and we both are land grant institutions (and they also have a drill field, as well... just theirs is not in the center of campus... they still use it for drills). After WWII, we moved away from some of the military traditions in the hopes of a fresh "new" look (this is about the time we changed our name to Mississippi State University from State College and the Bulldogs replaced the Maroons as our mascot).</div><div>
</div><div>A lot of the old land grant schools were modeled after Miss. A & M, Including TAMU, Clemson, and I believe Auburn... long before the SEC existed. General Lee was credited for a lot of that because he built a strong foundation in the late 1800s. Pretty neat stuff when you look into it. </div><div>
</div><div>And, no, TAMU does not use cowbells. They have one of the neatest fight songs in college football, though. I can't embed, but here is the link:</div><div>

</div><div>Wish DWS would sing like this... it's incredible to see.</div>

You are right AssEndDawg. I forgot about the Longhorn cowbells. Like TTU, only certain organizations can ring them though.

Ditto DRT. The "Aggie War Hymn" is a great song. The whole song is a great big f-you to the Longhorns!

HAHAHAHA!!!! Yesssss! There are two different clips of that on YouTube -- few years apart. I actually knew one of them really well. Nothing like national "exposure" for the school when I saw them air that on Jay Leno one night!
