Improvements on offense...

I think our defense will still be the strength of the team this year. That said, I believe we will be improved on offense and could still hang 50 on JSU.
cause it wasn't the "spread". The kept running into blitzes and throwing the ball to receivers behind the line of scrimmage. It seemed to me that the throws were either long or backwards but the spread is supposed to be a lot of 5 yards throws right?
I'm going to give Boise credit because when I watch them I seem to think this a lot, but it seemed like the defense they called was usually perfect for the play Oregon was running. The Oregon QB did not live up to the hype either. He's trying to take the team on his shoulders and he just ain't that guy.
I don't see us putting the game on one of our shaky QBs so hopefully we will see a better offense (with admittedly inferior talent) against a much worse defense than Oregon faced last night.

I'm not so worried about the offense against JSU... I'm worried about the offense in games we consider potentially winnable (i.e., Auburn, Vandy, etc...).
Oregon wasn't even really changing systems and they struggled last night. We have a completely new system that by all accounts (Michigan last year, even Florida their first year) takes some time to get down properly.

You left off Tennessee and Auburn last year as well. Both Fulmer and Tuberville got fired after bringing in 'spread' OCs to try to rejuvenate their offenses when both had run more pro style offenses with more success in previous seasons, so spread doesn't always equal improved offense.
I think you'll see improvement in your offense though, because 1) it can't get worse, and 2) I think Tyson Lee is a decent QB that will have more success in a spread offense that can minimize his height disadvantage.
I really feel like Lee will fit in well with the offense. He's shown he's athletic, and he's shown that he can be accurate with the football too.

I hope having Tyson Lee will ease the transition for us. Since he has run the spread in the past, maybe we won't struggle as must as some other teams have.
based on Oregon because A. Croom couldn't coach and along those lines, we don't know if Chip Kelly for Oregon can coach. It was his first game after all, and he may be a dud. B. Yes, Oregon ran the spread. Just because you run a certain style of offense, it doesn't mean that it will always work. Players make an offense work- and based on what I saw from Croom and McCorvey coaches have a large part in it as well.
I don't expect us to score like Texas Tech, but I do expect that we will be improved. Who knows? We may have better players on our offense than Oregon. (Wooly because game day is tommorrow) I certainly wasn't all that impressed with Oregon's QB, who looked clueless the entire night. I would take Lee over him any day.
