especially on that play that Dykes called him out for not playing defense when the KY guard drove the lane - was I the only one that thought if Sidney had tried to make a play on that, the KY guard would have been at the line for the old fashioned 3-point play? Not giving Sidney a pass, but that has to cross his mind.

Sidney fouled out at Auburn due to semi-passive defensive play.

He didn't garner ONE foul last night due to completely-passive defensive play.

Any good player has three reasonable options on the play in discussion at that point in the game with NO fouls.

1. Beat the driving guard to the spot and try to take a charge.
2. Try to block the shot.
3. Hammer him. No easy points in the paint.

running away from the other team when they have the ball was an effective strategy. On a side note, I think Kodi would still pick up fouls if he adopted Sidney's new tactic.

And, it's completely selfish. He just wants his touches on the offensive end. Getting in foul trouble just limits in his mind his chances to score.

However, unlucky for him and us, the more minutes he gets the more tired he gets and the more tired he gets the worse he is on the offensive end. He was terrible last night on the offensive end and I'm sure it's because he was gassed.

A Sidney not in foul trouble at this point is worse for the team than a Sidney in foul trouble. More minutes actually equals LESS production.

Varnado says, keep your mouth shut, give maximum effort and play unselfishly and you can get away with murder in the paint. Fat, lazy and dogging it on defense?.. not so much.

When the RSS fouls he usually knocks the guy down, SWAT couldn't do that if he tried.. It's a big difference between 300 lbs and 210lbs.

There's no defending his play, especially after last night. There was one instance where there was no stoppage in play near a TV timeout and they were already talking about Sidney loafing.

We inbounded the ball and Dee runs it up the court and then had to dribble for several seconds just waiting on Sidney to cross midcourt. At the 25 second mark we set up our offense and then missed a shot. Kentucky gets the rebound, runs down the court and then passes into the lane where whitey with the chinstrap gets an easy layup all before Sidney ever even crossed into the 3 point line.

Out of all the big men we've had over the years, some loved (Jarvis, Damp) some hated (Campbell, Quentin Smith) we have NEVER had one that's been out of position for 10-15 second stretches of possessions on BOTH ends of the floor.
