Incoming WR's class

After looking at the breakdown by Matt Wyatt on Will Rogers, I got to wondering about this past year's WR Class.

We got 6 WR's two of which were transfers. I don't think you take transfers unless you think they can help you right away so for sure those two guys, Calvin and Polk, should at least be in the mix.

How about those others? Knox, Harmon and Thomas have all been enrolled since May 31st. Will we see those any of those guys contributing early or are waiting on fall camp to see depth charts.

What about Jacobi Moore, I know he was injured but I think he can be a difference maker at some point. He had 155 yards and 3 td's his sr year but he got all of that in one qtr in the season opener before his injury. Anyone know about his recovery? When will he be enrolling?

Im not sure who will step up but it seems to me we should have an abundance of good revievers. Tulu should be ready and maybe Rufus Harvey can contribute. Knox is suppose to be a stud and there was a lot of talk about Ducking so I expect great play from that group. I think if the O line has improved I figure we will move the ball. I know its too early to look at recruiting but they seem to be concentrating on huge tackles and dbs. Maybe they feel those are the 2 biggest needs ? Idk. I can't wait to see how things go

Jacobi had more TDs and receiving yards than that. He covered fine and played at the end of the year. Supposed to enroll this month. I think if he came in in June he could help some this year. He’s going to be good. Really good.

To me, Walley and Tulu are the only two that absolutely have to be on the field. JW for obvious reasons and Tulu because he is electric with the ball in his hands. Aside from that, I think it’s wide open.

I’d love to see Heath show us this year why he was such a highly rated recruit, but if he can’t, you’ve gotta think that Knox and Harmon will be itching for snaps. Harmon is especially intriguing to me because I don’t feel like we’ve had that kinda size at WR since Bear, and I don’t think even Bear had his athleticism. It would be really nice to have a couple WRs that can play physical because all the better teams in the league tend to have that

I just took a closer look at Makai Polk and something that really stood out was his confirmed shuttle time of 4.38. That is an elite time and better that most NFL WR's.

I could not find any 40 times but he has claimed to be a 4.6 guy coming out of HS. That is not an elite 40 speed for a WR but that shuttle time suggests a quick change of direction that is unusual for a 6' 3" player. He should be able to get separation even without top speed and make some folks miss for some serious YAC.

I don't know if either of these transfer will be our best but I do believe both of these transfers will make an impact. Then throw in the HS guys this class will be impactful.

I think the WR's will make a leap in production in Leach's 2nd year. I know Leach said about half way through last year that on a given play that they may only have 2 guys running the route correctly. I do not expect that to be the case this year.

I know I am bumping my own thread but I think the WR positions has to grow a lot for State to transition into the offense that it can become under Leach and I am ready for some Football!

Polk's route and catch in the spring game was a great one.

Do that multiple times a game and we are in business.
