Lmao. Was he really comparing ‘02 to ‘96?! He said Hawkins & Stockton were essentially equal to Epps & Turner, with Turner being only slightly better than Stockton. And, he also couldn’t see much difference between Azubuike & Barbour vs Mercer & Anderson when comparing wings, declaring it even. I couldn’t read any more after that, lol. I realize hindsight is 20/20 but, holy ****. Lol

I am always saddened when a regular poster passes away.

I think about that from time to time, and my thought, for now, is that I want to be long-gone from message board posting well before I die.

I don't really want my death to be discussed on this board. That's just me.

I usually wean off around June, but football brings me back. One year, I think I will stay away.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. ;-)

In the past couple of years I changed jobs, got divorced, moved to Nashville, and started a new job with crazy hours. So I cut way back on posting here, but read the board about once a week.

On the plus side, several former players come into my place and we've become friends.

As for the other stuff posted. Those that actually KNOW me know I'm a UK Fan. There isn't anything I could say here to convince the others so I won't try. Other than to say I never get into name calling or personal attacks. My posts at the UNC Board were as a guest there, hence always respectful. But I often was a contrarian, just with carefully chosen words. And since I'm not a lemming, I might do the same here if I don't agree with something. But again, never personal, always trying to engage in civil discussion. Some folks attack it differently and that's their choice. I don't understand why they care how I do things, I certainly don't care how they do things. In the end, we all want the same thing.

back in the Rainman days - I bet John _Blue would remember, there was an older guy, a real curmudgeon, and he went by his real name. He hated me with a passion and whenever he'd get pissed at me, he'd say I wasn't a credible person because I didn't use my real name on a message board. Unfortunately he died around 2005ish I think.

I think about him alot because I've pretty much turned into an old curmudgeon now too. I wish I could remember his name. I respected the guy.

When I first started posting, I really disliked Rainman and his mods, but they were pretty upfront in the fact that their board was a UK support board and they weren't interested in debate that included criticism of the coach (Tubby) or the players. It was their board, their rules and I had to accept it. It was hard though because you'd have a giant turd like Smokey Pearl spouting his nonsense and couldn't go after him because he was saying the "right" things.

Took getting tossed a couple of times to get used to it, plus we still had CNNSI for a few days. CNNSI would get 15,000 posts in a 2 days for various sports fans which all kind of resided under one roof. It was amazing. I was never more passionate about UK basketball, because you had to constantly defend it, while you were on the attack of UNC/Duke/IU and Louisville. A few other schools had fans but mostly those. Some people loved it, but I also remember people asking about a board dedicated to Kentucky and us sending them to Rainman's board. but the downside for me was coming over to Rainman's site, it felt so restrictive - you kind of craved that confrontational no rules posting.

Now you have people screaming troll every 5 minutes on here whenever they read something they don't like.

What happened to kentuckysir? He came up with the amazing nickname for James young and when it failed miserably he kind of drifted away.

Another legend was rayodar. This guy had the greatest thread ever! He ran into ramel bradley and gave him pointers on how to shoot better. He then started a thread about it boasting as if smooth took his advice. I was laughing so hard with tears in my eyes it was amazing. I'm sure the old schoolers remember that one lol

That dude snarks (I think that was his name) who posted every lebron article, blog, story, excerpt anyone could ever find. Like summer of 09 maybe.
I remember how excited he was the Cavs got Jamario Moon. He said something to the effect that the rest of the league had no chance. Poor guy.

He fits the profile. Probably struggling with how to make sense of it all.

I feel really old when I think back to the those early 2000s message boards and the three or four of them that eventually gave me the boot.
Should of been on the old AOL board. Straight savage at times. Poor @Bkocats was a mod on the chat board. God Bless her after UK lost a game.

[laughing] Yes, I know she's still laughing at me on Facebook. EAD. Lol. [laughing]
