When I was on the board in the late '90s/early 2000's while at UK I remember Katman2000....guy was a complete loose cannon.

I don't remember a ton from then, but I think Darrell Bird was on there and a husband and wife (maybe Jeff Drummond) ran the board or something....again vague memories, long time ago and way too much has happened in between.

Does any of this ring a bell to anyone? Edumacate me.

Definitely remember Bret Bearup...

Since rejoining I've tried to recall as much as I can but it is tough, I blame it on college, wife, kids, life...haha.

My earliest memory which I've shared on another thread was the Darius Rice debacle.

In fact I was living in Haggin Hall while that was ongoing....wrapping up my first year at UK.

Oh yea Katman for sure. BB I remember as well.

I always wondered what happened to BrianBoone. Always figured he’s been under a new account.

Does Katman still have his own website? I'm too lazy to look it up. Man, that's like the Dark Ages. I guess I'm getting old.

Back when Rainman was running a version of this board, Smokey Pearl used to be protected by Rainman and Dan (BG_Dan? Dan _BG?) . He pretty much could say whatever he wanted.

I can also remember a mod telling me that paying members on the board had influence on telling Mods who to ban and who could stay.

There were many people who liked the strict rules about not criticizing the program (a handful on here today would still prefer it) , but they lost or banned hundreds , probably thousands of UK fans - and many ended up on other boards.

The frustrating part is mostly it was over Tubby - and in the end, a big majority of those people demanding unconditional support of UK ended up turning on him as well - and decided then it was OK to criticize the program

There was a poster named ChinaCat - one of the earliest vocal detractors of Tubby that stayed in the margins around here for a few years before being banned. He was a man of few words, 90% of his posts were Tubby Sux. But he lasted maybe 2 years before getting the boot. He wasn't confrontational about it, but people would lose their minds over him continually posting that same phrase.

I posted in the mid 2000's under Kybred. Changed my handle and lost my post count when the site split happened. This was right in the middle of the Tubby wars. I was a Deplion fan boy for sure and looked forward to his succinct, logical posts. The superfans tried mightily but never laid a glove on ole Dep.

ChinaCat! A name I hadn't thought of in a long time. I have to say, you guys are much better than me at recalling these names. Even for the posters that are currently active, I don't really register most of them. There are a handful whose names register.....but most of the time, all I see is lines of text on a screen. You all look the same to me. heh. And that's for current posters, let alone those that have been gone for any length of time....

I don't think so. There was a time when his pic got pulled from the web and he lost her. So I helped search her on the interwebs then hosted the pic for him. I still have it

I started Sea of Blue specifically because of the non-stop Tubby fights. After a site no one read called Bogans' Heroes.

SmokeyPearl's best attribute was he had some insane amount of stats because he would post long a$$ posts full of stats. Like, full.

I admit I was a Tubby supporter until the recruiting class of Jared Carter and Adam Williams, which proved he was mailing it in.

I'm not sure anyone is even still reading this thing, but a couple questions:

First of all, @FrankUnderwood it appears I'm the only one who doesn't know who you used to be. Help me out.

Second, what was the name of that portly redheaded kid who posted the videos of himself playing basketball, but also like photoshopped pictures of himself as Godzilla and everything else? Claimed Gillispie was recruiting him, but was clearly joking. The kid was hilarious but only posted for like two weeks.

Deplion was my professor for our senior culmination class in business school when I graduated college. He was a good dude. Always kept things logical here. I have been on this board forever. Used to pay for HOB until Drummond left, then there just wasn't that much inside info anymore and I got a new debit card and just never changed my payment info.

I missed this thread. I don’t necessarily check in daily. And things change fast here. I’ve been around awhile, since the mid 90’s predecessors to this board. As I read through it so many names I recognize. SmokeyPearl, Katman2000, Releasethesquirms, Rainman, Keith, Babs?, Tccat, Deplion, Spock, Blind Karl Hess, etc. The Tubby wars, the Door. I remember it all.

Saw a number of mentions of people creating multiple accounts. Think what you will of me, but I have always been BoulderCat from the beginning.

What ever happened to that Jason spears guy or something like that? He hated uk football and always was a dick to people but was pretty funny sometimes. He disappeared out of nowhere?

Ha, yeah it wasn't the best when I was there....but made some good memories. Pretty sure everywhere I lived in Lex until after I graduated could fit the same description. Never got hepatitis or spinal meningitis though!

What year were you there? I was there '99-'00...they have luxury condos now I think. I'll be staying in dorm one night for father/son camp with kid in few weeks.

2011 when I stayed there. First shower I took a cockroach crawled in front of my feet and I noped TF out, transferred to B3 which was like a luxury villa in comparison. Plus 24/7 visitors and girls in the same dorm. Haggin all boys and only 24/7 visitation on weekends. It is all luxury dorms now at Haggin, missed all the new dorm updates by a few years.
