I can’t remember a season where Nebraska has been hit by so many injuries, the tight end transfer, Bonner teddy, hartzog, gunner. Pritchard and of course Dylan , there might be several more.

Just read on another site that Gunnar is out for the rest of the season. SIAP, but seriously sucks ballz. He may have had his ups and downs but at least he was experienced depth.

these things happen during a course of a football season, good reason for proper depth and developeing toughness.
I remember a year or 2 ago we was down to the 4th string qb.
and emmit caught my eye when he was the only 1 outta 4 rb's not forever in hospital.

I think Bonner was factoring heavily in the plans preseason, I think they really like his rather unique skill set. Turns out we are lucky Corcs hammy healed up. Hopefully Pritchett’s injury is a short term deal.

I think Gunnar gets a bad rap. He played hurt for a few games last year and tried playing hurt this year. And I think it was a pretty big ask to just move the kid to right tackle in the middle of the season after he had been playing left tackle for at least the last two years. The footwork is all different.

I was watching the Indiana game and one of their lineman came off the field hurt after a TD - the starters for IU have not missed one play this year due to injury

Add it to the list of excuses

if 77 was hurt all year he shouldn’t have been playing. He might be recovered by now when we are down a couple of tackles vs at the start of the year when we had “3 co-starters”. If those 3 guys really were co-starters why push a guy that’s hurt. It’s either complete BS or dumb. Neither looks good

seriously please let’s pin all the excuses so we have them

I'm not one for the injuries excuse. They happen to every team in different degrees throughout a long season. You have to have a plan B, which we didn't for TJ last week. Hopefully we do this week...as well as for Gramstad (who could easily be pressed into duty).

And if guys aren’t ready to play to start the year don’t play them cause other injuries will come and you need them healthy by then

I used to do the "co-starter" thing too and looking back on it I realize it was because I just suck at making decisions and I didn't want to "hurt" kids feelings.

I started at one RB in a 2 back base offense but then anotheer kid and I normally alternated. IF we ran wishbone I would play fullback and he would play half back but other than that he never started a game our senior year. Looking back, I always thought he was more athletic than me but maybe I was better than I thought. His older brothers were STUDs when they played. He was a great guy and I wished they had given him an official start at some point.

There’s a lot to be said for building chemistry by the way you sub. We had another senior back who never played. Great kid. I talked to one of the assistants about him and an OT who had gotten in some trouble early and had never played but stuck it out. They got the start at our last home game and that RB had a 20 yard TD run behind that OT. The joy in that moment was unbelievable.

I’m not using injuries as an excuse, I’m just stating I don’t remember a time where Nebraska has been hit so many season ending injuries
