I'm watching the Arizona game again, and it is more impressive on the second look.<div>
</div><div>Stansbury knocked off two of the best supposed x's and o's coaches in the country on back to back nights. In the two games at MSG, the Bulldogs have rebounded and defended like the Bury teams of old. We led the conference in defense and rebounding for the majority of Bury's first ten years, and that wasn't by accident. Stans knows how to drill rebounding and defensive principles into his players heads, and that is a major credit to him.</div><div>
</div><div>I attribute our deficiencies in these areas over the past few years to "The Recruiter" not recruiting well. I don't believe that Tom Izzo could teach the likes of Ravern Johnson or Kodi Augustus to defend and rebound. "The Recruiter" lost so many recruiting battles that we were using guys like 6'3 Phil Turner, who no one else wanted, to defend the 4 spot. Riley Benock was a significant part of our gameplan. I don't think I need to say any more about that.</div><div>
</div><div>Now back to the current edition of bulldog basketball. A positive thing about this team is that we can score in a variety of ways. We did it outside against A&M, and we showed that we can do it inside or out against Arizona. I love it when we have Smith and Bost on the floor at the same time. We are explosive.</div><div>
</div><div>Like Vitale said, Deville is going to be a special player for us. But he won't be special before he makes a ton of mistakes along the way. He is going to turn the ball over and make some bad decisions. As State fans, we like to find former State players to compare him to. I've heard him compared to everyone from Chuckie Evans, to Zimmerman, to Bowers, to Gary Ervin. I hope that we as fans can remember how Zimmerman and Bowers really looked as freshman. They were not very good.</div><div></div><div>Arizona is an extremely talented team. They made run after run at us, but we had the resilience to hold off each and every one. We hit big basket after big basket when it looked like our lead was in question. Last year's team could not have done this.</div><div>
</div><div>As I am watching this, Sidney makes another amazing interior pass. Allow me to compare him to another former bulldog great who was a great interior passer in Mario Austin. Sidney to me looks like Austin plus three inches.</div><div>

Great post. I see what you are saying about the recruiting hurting our D and rebounding for the past few years, and you are no doubt at least partially correct. My view, however, is that Stansbury somehow lost some of his mojo over the past two seasons. It was almost like his benefit to us had been drained and it was time for him to go. Now I'm wondering if maybe he's not making a comeback. After this amazing and successful road trip, i have high hopes for the future again.

You are absolutely right to note that Stans can be a great defensive coach. I have seen him totally shut down top teams for several minutes. Kentucky games and the Memphis NCAA game come to mind. And didn't we hold Duke to a very low point total for them? We did lose most of these games, but we had a chance to win them because of great defense.

Just to be clear, your post is the Best Post on this Board Since 2:35 p.m. on Saturday.

J-Money did what he wanted without any repercussions. I am not sure
what he had on Stans, but it must have been really good.
We went guard
heavy when he was on the team so he could showcase his one on one skills
in hopes of getting in the NBA.

<div>
Let's look at the J-Money class....
Stans already had Sharpe on the team then we
signed Goodridge, Houston, Rimmer, Delk1, Delk2 and J-Money.
Stans let
J-Money run the show and the next year we signed Hansbrough. We lost
all those players except for J-Money, I find it very interesting that
everyone but J-Money left the team for one reason or another, he was the
reason.
Stans had no offensive game-plan except for J-Money to
showboat and it really hurt our team for several years. In fact, I
think we are just now recovering from it.
</div>
We also missed out on post player Tiny Gallon, who's sister was at State, and then had to
wait over a year for the RSS to be eligible.
So I think it is on Stans
either way you look at it, he didn't sign post players and/or he let
J-Money dictate how we run our offense.
This
year we finally have a post heavy offense again...

We have signed a 6' 8" center in Gavin Ware and 4 guards - all under 6' 5". If Moultrie keeps playing this well, he'll be gone after this season. Sidney could easily get hot and head to the draft. I feel like we should be signing some more size, rather than going so guard heavy.
