Instant Replay Insanity

Is it just me or is instant replay driving you insane also? This is crazy. It seems like about every 4 plays in pro and college football the refs have to look at the instant replay.

It's so bad I am thinking about turning off this otherwise great National Championship game.

Thank God there is no instant replay in high school football!

I am just saying there are too many reviewable plays. It takes away from the flow/pace of the game. I do like the fact they review plays in the end zone and near the end zone but in general the pace of the game is going in the same direction as baseball which gets boring.

Watching high school games which do not have instant replay is so much better than watching college and pro football with the instant replay.

As far as high school replay goes. The reason they don't currently have it is probably because they don't have the capabilities or money.

Don't be surprised if it comes to the playoffs, maybe after a couple of rounds, or more likely the final games wherever they are played.

I will agree that college football games take way too long to play. But that's mostly because the clock stops whenever a team makes a first down and isn't wound until the ref starts it back up upon placement of the ball on the line of scrimmage. College games took too long before replay, but as you say replays do add to the time of the game.

I have always been against replay in baseball. I am sure most if not all of us have been at games where you see a couple of replays and it is insane. Funny thing is, the same people who wanted replay in baseball were the ones who said the games were taking too long.

I have always hated IR, sorry to see in baseball now, and would rather live with the mistakes than the delays IR has caused.

It will never be done away with. Do I wish it was never started? Yes.

I'm in favor of things such as "goal line technology" and even an "electronic home plate" -- that can bring fairness and consistency without impeding the pace of play. But this nonsense of reviewing play after play, delaying the pace, the momentum ... it's just painful to witness.

Plus you get Joe Buck "... but was he inconclusively on that white line you see there before the ball came loose and his knee touch the ground before crossing the plane of the goal line and the referee signaling the play dead ..."

Aw jeeze you idiots. You need a touchdown? Get the whole f-in ball in the end zone then hand the ball to the ref who has his hands in the air. You need to prevent a score? Don't give up 99 yards of the field. Problem solved.

All this nonsense and the NFL refs have to go on strike to get compensated properly?
