It doesn't necessarily have to be the one that we wore on our Nike uniforms, in fact I like the one that we wore in the 80's as much if not moreso.

I have never understood the reason why the school continues to try to shove M-State down our throats when so many people like the other logo better. Yeah, yeah marketing.... well good marketing would be giving people what they want.

I've always thought either of the old interlocking MSU logos looked way better than any variation of the M State logo (especially the newest one). And if there's no way to get the old logos back due to copyright or whatever, I think the MS logo you guys use on the baseball hats would look better than the M State logo too. I actually always thought the white helmets looked better than the maroon helmets too.

I like the maroon on maroon helmet w/ the new logo on it. I don't mind the white face mask on maroon helmet w/ the new logo. I did love the interlocking Nike logo, but I let it go (unlike others). Jackie's MSJ logo was the worst thing i've ever seen on the side of a helmet. Looking back... The 80's semi interlocking MSU looks like crap to me, but that's all I knew back then.

In my opinion, bulldog fans associate the Nike logo w/ winning therefore most fans prefer that logo.

The MSJ was not that good. The Nike logo was ok. The new M-State looks sharp and modern (but eventually won't). I just wish we could establish something and make it more "iconic". Hell, the ****** cursive script on Mississippi's helmets are somewhat iconic. I just wish we could find something and stick with it. They could put walking bully on a helmet and I wouldn't give a ****. Just stick with something. It'll eventually grow on you. Seems like we've always been chasing our tail in the logo dept.

better than anything that Mississippi State currently uses in football. I don't like changing logos. I wish we would stick with one. Either the interlocking nike or the baseball logo. Both are very classy looking.

Anything other than MState. It's generic and unimpressive. I'd prefer any of the other logos from before, even the baseball would work.

Like this:

That's from South Montgomery (AL) Academy, but I'm not sure if it's accurate. There was alsoanother school somewhere that had a green helmet like that. I think we could dress it up a little and make it look good, like the NC for Carolina.

Talk about generic and unimpressive....initials arranged in a diagonal.

With that said, look at all college logos and helmet logos around the country, most are fairly simple and are easily identified and associated with the school they represent at first glance. The MState logo does just that for us.

What do some of you think they're trying to do? Exactly that! The reason we've never had something (besides baseball ms) "stick", is because we've never ever had an entire package of trademarked logos/wordmarks. As I've said a million times on here, get used to this new package. Its the exact reason that some of y'all are bitching about, that we FINALLY paid to have something of our very own. You may not get it now, but 10 yrs from now, our marks will eventually be iconically familiar. You just have to start somewhere, folks. Take extreme comfort in the fact that our new administration has taken notice and faced fixing the logo complaints that State fans (including yours truly) have complained about over the years. Now, it wont matter from now on which apparel company we sign with (adidas, nike, under armor, etc...) we will NOW have the same logo(s) on any one of them. Up until now, the apparel company would "come up with something" for us. So nothing was ever constant.
I totally and wholeheartedly agree that should've requested an interlocking MSU/MS. ...and a "Bulldogs" wordmark. Me being a designer myself, I wasnt crazy about the dog-head & dog-huMp logos, but thats because bulldogs are my specialty and i'm bias. On the other hand, I was stoked that we did take the plunge into the future.
oh, and we wouldn't want the same logo as Montana State University, would we?

Except that Croom sucked. That we agree on.

As for the helmet logo, the current logo is a vast improvement over the "old" M-State, especially for football. It's sleeker, more modern, and prints better.

The Nike logo is classic and I don't think we'll ever top it. MSJ is the worst-looking thing imaginable. I'd like to see an alternate helmet with the new bulldog head on it, but I just really like that logo.

Here's the thing, though: We're never going to have the same helmets or uniforms, more than likely even the same logo, for decades at a time. You can either be classic or current. Traditional or trendy. Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.

The modern look appeals to young people. No one cares what old white people think.

Good post. The traditional OU and trendy OSU comparison was spot on. Feel free to check out my images in my profile for images of different helmet concepts

Now we do. That certainly wasn't the case when Ray Crxxm was first hired. He was supposed to be just what the program needed and was going to "clean" up all the bad seeds.

I really like the M logo with the arrow through it that we used at the time of the Apollo missions.

Mesquite High School (close to Dallas) has always used that logo. I'm sure they still do. Maroon and white, just like y'all, so their baseball hats look exactly like State's. If you're wondering where the "S" comes from, their mascot is the "Skeeters." I know, that's terrible.

I've always liked the baseball logo best. Never did understand why y'all didn't make that your every sport logo. It's simple and sharp. Never gets dated.

ETA: Or maybe it's South Montgomery. Anyway, everything else still stands.

Not to argue with anyone, but to put my $.02 in, I'll rank my favs for football helmet.

1. Current M-State, I like the way it looks, it's easy to reproduce for marketing, and I don't like changing it.
2. Nike interlocking.
3. Some form of a bulldog, either on all fours or the old logo from the mid-60's (see pic)
4. Pre-Nike interlocking
5. Baseball logo
6. Old M-State

I don't want them only wearing G-straps with their thigh pads duct taped to their legs with 1960's style blue colored Conversehigh top tennis shoes.

Like the interlocking logo.

Prefer what we currently have though. New team, new branding, new era, etc... If we had SEC championships and such to relive vicariously be bringing back and old uniform, I'd be in support of that.

But I prefer to keep heading in this new direction.
