I’d suggest being upfront with your self-promotion. It tends to go over better with this crowd.

Generally, when your only post is “check out this interesting article...”, it gets sniffed out pretty quickly.

FWIW, the email associated with APDawg's account has a different name than Daniel Black, who has always pretty much been himself on Twitter. It's also not Ethan Lee's name, who started Underdog Tribune.

Yeah, not even beginning to consider clicking a link to a web address that starts with t.co/ .

It may not be self-promotion but there's a strong perception of it.

There's nothing wrong with self-promotion, it's just that the bait also doesn't appeal to me.

Same. It's a Mississippi State message board, so of course something written about Mississippi State should be highlighted here, but there's the Rick Cleveland way and then there's the Clint Switzer way.

I have verified that Daniel Black didn't post this. Don't know who this first-time poster is, but please do not let them detract from the good writing that Daniel and Ethan do at Underdog Tribune. They're both good MSU people with long track records.

After reading this article and watching Matt Wyatt's film breakdown, this is my take.
This is no different than any other team we have had at MSU. If you did the same analysis with Sherrill/Croom/Mullin/Moorehead you would see similar. Players didnt execute properly and turnovers changed the game dynamic. I think the pick six got in KJs head and he pressed the rest of the game. Leading to more mistakes. Luckily against LSU it was easier because all he had to do play throw and catch with the receivers since they were behind the defenders most of the game. Was it disappointing? Yes. We could have won the game event with out Kylin in the game. CFB requires 18-22 year old's to execute game plans and make decisions in 5 secs or less. Not always going to happen.

Looking forward to seeing how the team progresses this week and handles what Kentucky throws at them.

Hail State!

That’s a really good article. Very well researched.

I’d forgotten just how WILD that UCLA loss. Imagine throwing 9 TD passes to 2 INTs and losing. That’s insane.

If that article did anything, it reinforced that you’ve got to throw out your conventional expectations when looking at a Leach-led teams box score. It’s going to a fun, and at times confusing, ride for you all!

Exactly. It is about player execution. QB has to hit guys between zone defenders. Early or late and it becomes a problem with 8 back. That's not on the coach. Same with rushing. I've seen some say the young RB were just not strong enough to break initial tackles at los. Well, with 5v3, they shouldn't have to break a tackle at or behind the los. That's an o-line not executing, not a coach's poor gameplan. As Leach and staff have made clear, their offense is all about repetition and execution. That's pretty simple, just do it.

I believe that's exactly what happened on the first pick (I'm going off what I saw on replay Saturday, so could be wrong).

Gardner slowed a step to settle between two defenders but KJ threw it where he would have been going - so it went right to the Arkansas guy. It wasn't really a bad throw in that he missed his target. But it was a misunderstanding between receiver and QB of what should happen there.
