I am an electrical engineer so communication is hard.

Tell me you didn't get an A in Embree's Writing For Engineers without telling me you didn't get an A in Embree's Writing For Engineers.
When I rolled through ('99) we didn't have to take Writing for Engineers. Can't remember what I took for a writing credit, but it wasn't that. And Horshack is correct. Typically if I am explaining something to you, it's going to be accompanied by a diagram of some sort.

Going into my senior year of engineering my daily ensemble consisted of flip flops and whatever pants and shorts I found laying on the ground. I sure as hell wasn’t trying to impress anybody. Engineering was not exactly a target rich environment.

and then I stumbled into McCool for my macroeconomics course. Everyone was dressed like they were going out. I looked like some homeless guy who had wandered off the street. I didn’t let it break me though.

Sorry. I was oblivious to his attention needs just found it interesting.
When Tennessee came to their senses and chose not to hire schiano, Forde threw a temper tantrum that would make a 5 year look like an adult. Hence my hatred for the guy. In my opinion, he may as well be a part of that **** that went down at Penn state for as much as he went to bat for schiano. **** those guys.

Forde also wanted sports cancelled for 2-3 years during Covid

Not many of us did. No As and only 2 Bs during the Summer session that I took. Proud to report that I was one of the Bs.

I found it hard to believe that any sports writer would want any sports shut down because that makes no sense. So, being that only care a little and wanted to see what was out there, I put co-pilot on the case. I'm not saying this is your case, but I suspect the most "egregious" thing he did is bullet 3:

What Forde did argue in summer 2020 was considerably narrower:
  • In July 2020, Forde wrote that the NCAA's COVID protocols made it difficult to envision the 2020 fall season being played without major interruptions, and he openly questioned whether the season could be played at all.
  • He was particularly concerned that a single positive test could potentially quarantine significant portions of teams and disrupt subsequent games.
  • He also strongly criticized the Trump administration's handling of COVID and argued that the rising case numbers could ultimately cost the country the 2020 college football season.

What I’m getting from that article is basically what the eye test also says….the SEC is a bag of cats, and will be shut out of the natty picture for the 4th year in a row.

The last bit about how poor the QB play is in the league as a whole is a pretty damning indictment of the postseason outlook, especially considering that the same was true last year.

We were able to substitute a similar 3000 Level Writing Course taught by either the College of Education or the College of Agriculture.

I somehow avoided Embry, but the lady that I had was the only really terrible teacher that I had at MSU. She openly disliked engineers, and stated as much. She also had very subjective views on certain things that were not supported by general English language rules, but she held fast regardless. I don't recall my final grade, but I do think I got an A+ in being a thorn in her side.

I think Embry was the professor who taught me Business Writing. One of the most helpful classes I took in my college career.

The story in EE was that he hated having to teach Writing for Engineers, had a general disdain for engineers, and made it as difficult as he could on them. My experience with the "new" lady who i had was that those attributes must have been job pre-requisites. It was somewhat ironic that an English professor could put off the signals that teaching engineers was beneath them while at the same time disliking engineers because many of them felt that all other majors were beneath them. However, I fully understood her general dislike for engineers as we had a number in EE who honestly thought that people who were not in EE had to do other things because they simply weren't smart enough.

Apparently they were so bright that it never occurred to them that some people were just normal, or had other interests than EE or were male and didn't want to spend their entire college career sitting by a bunch of oddball humans while never seeing a female.

I had Embree fall of 1996 and I did actually come out with an A, primarily because with his goofy grading system he gave me an A on the final paper, which opened the door for an A on the final giving me an A.

He was a pompous know-it-all *** (actually still is, if you go hunt down the columns he writes for some Berkeley, CA internet publication), and the way he taught was backwards....he'd make you screw up, grade you on that, then tell you how to do it right. But, distill down the things he actually taught and value of it in crafting communications for a targeted audience, and it was incredibly useful.

But he could have accomplished the same thing and not been a complete *** about it.

When I was at State as a grad student, my clock radio broke. I went to eat and discover two electrical engineering students, I knew, at a table of five. They all turned out to be EE students. I said my clock radio broke. How many electrical engineers would it take to fix it? They all answered together, Six. Since that time, I haven’t put much faith in Electrical Engineers.
