Q: With Kanye Clary being out and the rules being different for redshirting in basketball, could he get this year back if he doesn’t return and get a medical redshirt?
Jans: That’s not on my watch and I don’t have anything to do with that. So I really don’t know anything about that right now.

Yeah. Think this is closer to Murph’s situation last year than an actual injury. We’ll see how it plays out.

Pretty sure he’s still on the bench during games.

Didn't Brian & Robbie insinuate on their podcast one day this week that there was more to Clary not playing that an injury?

It doesn't seem that Jans has a high tolerance level for BS, so this situation is confusing.

How much money is being wasted? What did he even get to come to MSU?

A rumor from last spring was that he and his dad went to the PSU coach and wanted more NIL(again, rumor), and he found himself needing to go to a new school as a result.

Anyways, how much is even 'wasted' on him?

Eerily similar circumstances. Played a good bit early in the season, got hurt, and then was eventually dismissed from the team when he didn’t like his role after coming back.

Again, my biggest issue with all this is that we only went after one PG in the portal, and the one we got was dismissed for being a problem at his prior stop. This is two years in a row with Taylor and now Clary

Some players are just going to be that way. Not sure much that a coach can do, but move on, cut losses, or whatever is required.
Doubt he would be around to infect the rest of my players, if it is player issue.

I don’t know how much but I’d assume he didn’t come here for free so whatever the amount, if he doesn’t want to play because of his attitude, that money is therefore “wasted” in my eyes. I’m not sure what you would call it though.

That’s what is so maddening. If it happens once it’s bad luck but 2 years in a row??

So, if he's a head case problem, and he's not playing, why is he still getting paid? And why is he still within two time zones of Starkvegas??

As long as he does whatever is stipulated in his contract, which cannot include on court performance (it isn’t pay for play after all 🙄), he’s going to get his money. Just the way it is.

There's no point in trying to get a redshirt since the NCAA is probably about to abolish redshirting and just give everyone 5 to play 5, no exceptions or extensions.

This is on Jans and the staff. They have to do a better job of evaluating these guys. 2 years in a row they wasted money on a key position problem player

He's definitely hurt and it's a lingering injury
