Miami driving, needs a FG to win. MD gets a pick 6 to go up 8, screws up the PAT. Miami about to get the ball back.

even though it was a good play, didn't think too hard on that one. I'm sure he'll learn though.

shouldn't have but few if any DB's would have thought of it and few coaches would have though to yell out "hey, if you intercept it, dont run it back for a TD, lay down."

Broke away for a long touchdown run, but instead of taking it to the zone, he slid just before to help his team milk the clock. Although most people think touchdowns make a player look better, he got a ridiculous amount of praise for his unselfish behavior. One's a veteran in the NFL and the other has relatively little experience playing the game.

If you watched the Baylor game, you may remember TCU throwing an interception to end the game. The player that intercepted the pass ran for about 9 yards before he laid down. Even more so, he had teammates run in front of him telling him to get on the ground as well (so they knew what to do before him). Like MD and UM, Baylor was only up by 2, but unlike the two there was only 2 seconds left after the player went down. Still, one of the TCU players could have pulled a Marques Colston on him and ran it back for a TD. Still speculation, but even if they had a similar amount of time left, I still think the player would have went to the ground on his own. <div>
</div><div>ETA: Went back and watched the highlights and the player went down on his own and didn't need anyone else to tell him to do it.</div>

MJD did it a couple years ago too but got trashed for it. Granted the Jaguars were down by 1 or 2 instead of being up. He did it so they could kick a field goal with no time left in order for the other team not to get another shot.

the EZ.
You cant tell or expecta DB to lay down when he has a damn great chance of scoring on a INT.
The damn special teams need to make a freakin extra point to close it out
How many of you computer geeks on here would be saying the same thing had he not scored and then for some stupid reason on the 2 or 3 Offensive snapsMarylandwould have had to take, someone fumbles and Miami wins on a last second FG.
Dont be stupid just b/c you have a keyboard in front of you!

There was about a minute and 30 left in the game after the man intercepted the pass and if I recall UM only had 1 timeout left. You do the math. If they fumbled taking a knee they didn't deserve to win the game. It's about putting your team in the best position to win. No one's criticizingbashinghim. It doesn't change the fact that it wasn't the best idea for him to do that.<div>
</div><div>Also, Randy was asked what he said to him at the end of the game and he specifically states that he didn't want him to score because Miami still had a chance to win.</div>

No one can blame a DB for wanting to score a meaningless touchdown since the opportunity is so rare. But let's say the MD player slides on the 5 yard line and the offense takes a few knees to win the game. Folks would be praising the guy and talking about how well coached Randy Edsall's players are. On the other hand, it made everybody that took Maryland pretty damn happy.

...it was about 4th and 1, with about a minute left, at midfield, and we decide to go for it. Matt Wyatt gave it off to Pig Prather (his freshmen year before being switched to Safety), and he busts it open for a touchdown.<div>
</div><div>Problem is, not we're up 14-6 and Memphis gets the ball back. Fortunately (to paraphrase Auburn) Memphis is Memphis and we're Mississippi State, so we hold them and win.</div>
