Stricklin refers to Dudy Noble Field by its old name and to Davis Wade Stadium by its new name. I think I know the reason why and I completely approve of it.

DUDY NOBLE SEAT REPLACEMENT TO BEGIN TOMORROW

Removal of the chairback seats at Dudy Noble Field will begin tomorrow or Friday, and our baseball stadium will have brand new chairback seats by the end of November. The initial seats removed from the baseball facility will be used to replace the chairbacks in the west side upper deck at Davis Wade Stadium. The remainder of the harvested chairbacks will be held in storage and used to replace broken or cracked seats at the football stadium, including on the east side in the club level.

After all of the chairbacks are removed from the grandstand at baseball, a textured sealant will be applied to the concrete facility before brand new chairbacks are returned to the facility. Each of those seats will have a cupholder attached that will service the customer behind it.

During the two-month project, the grandstand itself will be a construction site and will be inaccessible. Those fans attending fall baseball practice will be limited to the bleacher areas on both sides of the diamond.

that his name be taken off the stadium. We don't officially take it off because that would be a bad PR move for us, but we just start calling it Dudy Noble Field again. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I don't think it's a mistake he called one by its old name and the other by its new one.

For whatever reason, Polk-Dement just never caught on. Most people I know and have heard still call it Dudy Noble. Veazey did it too.

should still use Polk-Dement in official communications, at leastthe first time the facility is mentioned in a release.Gordon Dement's widow gave a sizable donation tohonor her husband.I know I'd be pissed if I wasa member of that family.

Was the donation carrying a stip that the University always refer to it as P-D stadium only? If not, then keeping it known as Dudy Noble, as it has been known forever, shouldn't be a problem with them. The donation put their name on the stadium and nothing else as far as I can tell.

I just think it's good politics.Writing that"the seats at Dudy Noble Field's Polk-Dement Stadium are being replaced..............." and from then on referring to it as Dudy Noble would have been easy to do. Who knows? there might be another Dement out there with big money.

It was known as Scott Field forforever, but once the stadium was named Davis Wade stadium, the university started calling it that.

I'm genuinely asking because I have wondered this before. I still usually say Scott Field but don't hear many others doing it, yet everyone still says Dudy Noble.

there hasn't been a change as far as I can see. Same with Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium. Call them either one and be politically correct...........

anything other than Dudy Noble Field, Dudy Noble or just DNF when typing a message. And it will forever be known as that to me. That being said, many thanks to the Dement family for their contribution. If I were to win the powerball, I would donate the money to build a complete new facility to rival any in college baseball, but it would still be Dudy Noble Field and nothing more.

It's on that list with Jaws. Gets me every time, no matter where it is in the movie. A Few Good Men seems to do that to me too.

I've noticed Ole Miss has instructed pretty much everybody to call them the Mississippi Rebels. Pretty much every sports website calls this "Mississippi" now.

...which is kind of a downer since we used to piss them off by calling them that.
