ESL had to give up playoffs because they knew about players who lived out of district. One was coaches nephews.

I’m surprised that the schools that some of these kids move into don’t have investigators looking into the transfers. I’d imagine that if residency rules are being flaunted that the district would have to stay on top of it. Once word gets out that desirable districts are not enforcing their borders it could open a can of worms to non athletes as well.

Some districts look other way on athletes and go after everyone else.

It depends on where you live. For some schools, there are 200 plus kids transfer in and out every year. Maybe about 5% of those kids are potential athletes.

LWE girls track built a dynasty partially through parents giving up guardianship of their daughter.
Wait what, gave up guardianship for a ring? my thing is this, transfers are out of control and wont get any better. It is the AAU mentality that has crossed over into all sports. I used to be a supporter of letting everyone transfer, but be ineligible for postseason play, but we know lawsuits will follow. So now I think I would like to see transfers allowed without question after year one if you attend a private school, because some make the wrong decision and finances could come into play. For public, you can transfer to a district school without penalty within your first two years.

And if people change jobs they should have the same stress and salary from the job they just left for a year (unless the new job has a lower salary and higher stress).

And if the previous school had worse school lunch the kid has to go back and eat the worse lunch.

What if they got “fired” from the old job?

Unless you’re moving from Ohio, I think most deal with the longer commute over selling their house.

"Wait what, gave up guardianship for a ring? "

It's a very real thing
I guess in some households a ring is really big deal! Not in my house,We have one and might get a second and it’s never discussed.Sometimes it’s better to play for a smaller or less talented school where you can get more guaranteed play time, for your film and recruiting if you want that.

You post was great until you sounded like 99% of the parents of HS sports. Everyone is worried about their film.

Not us!But I will say only a small percentage of our school is focused on film.Really not as much as everyone thinks,at least in our school.I would say out of starting 22 on this yrs team I would say maybe 8 are interested in next level. My sons have no interest in playing D2 or D3 and not good enough for D1

Your key word is desirable most transfers that play the system don’t go to those schools

Look at who gets the transfers

The IHSA has one, I repeat one, guy who investigates transfers. How the hell is he supposed to investigate each one?
I never said they should investigate each one. They obviously can't. You rarely hear of them investigating at all. My point was if they investigate one case like Naperville Central - a well known program in a highly populated area, they may at least get some people to think twice about it.

The current rules have GAPING loopholes to which you can construct an airtight alibi if so inclined. The only kids who get sat for a year are the ones who weren't trying to work the loopholes and game the system.

If you want to, you can. Even easier when you have folks from the benefitting schools and 7on7's and hype websites (a few come to mind) assisting your efforts.

I'm surprised that the IHSA is concerned about what boundaried schools do. Seems like the majority of their energy is devoted to riding herd on those rascally Catholic schools.
