Has something happened behind the scenes that he is being promoted or is this just typical self promotion that we see with players now? He’s the only one that ran a good route on Saturday night! I hope he becomes a starter.
Part of Franklin's legacy -- play the upperclassmen like the 3 portal receivers over talented young players like Howard and (now sitting as a redshirt freshman also) Tyseer Denmark. How he enters the game and runs one route, gets open, catches the ball and then doesn't see the field again is baffling.
Time to can a bunch of coaches and starting with the receiver's coach is a great position coach to start with followed by OL coach DL coach Strength coach Special Teams coach and RB coach. Did I miss anyone? How he enters the game and runs one route, gets open, catches the ball and then doesn't see the field again is baffling.

Hey, you are the insider. Am I interpreting the post correctly that perhaps Howard was told he’s WR1 today?Time to can a bunch of coaches and starting with the receiver's coach is a great position coach to start with followed by OL coach DL coach Strength coach Special Teams coach and RB coach. I would go BOGO with both AK and Hagans. Hagans has shown nothing his entire time here. He has had multiple different players and time to recruit his own type of players. Nothing has worked. Much of the PSU staff should be gone with the new HC. I might keep Terry Smith and Poindexter. Other than that no one has shown anything significant on this staff.AK would be my first. He can't develop a downfield passing attack. If he needs a mobile QB to run his triple option ish offense, he should have told Franklin that he needed Beau or he should have took the WVU job.
The fact that he didn't throw a fit and demand Allen play over Singleton (somebody finally made that call vs Iowa) is bad enough as well. His use of Reynolds like he is 5th year Tyler Warren is idiotic as well.
Hagans I don't quite have a problem with. He didn't design the offense, but Pena dropping his last 2 passes directly cost us this game.
What about Howle? He seems to be doing a good job both recruiting and developing the TE position.I would go BOGO with both AK and Hagans. Hagans has shown nothing his entire time here. How about Ty Howle (TE coach) possibly being retained?I would go BOGO with both AK and Hagans. Hagans has shown nothing his entire time here. None of the receivers have developed that is a coaching thing and the recruits he's brought in have been marginal to this point.AK would be my first. He can't develop a downfield passing attack. If he needs a mobile QB to run his triple option ish offense, he should have told Franklin that he needed Beau or he should have took the WVU job.

But getting rid of coach K solves some of those problems so maybe Hagans would get another year if they weren't bringing in a new HC. I'm guessing Hagans is gone when that happens.
careful what you wish for....this guy has a few good weeks and he will be playing for another team next season.
How in the world do you not have a problem with Hagans? He's the #1 guy on my list of people that need to be gone, it should have happened already. He's had 3 years and hasn't developed a single WR, hasn't recruited well, and per all the film breakdown guys our WRs can't execute properly. They run poor routes, then can't get open, they don't present themselves to the QB properly, they can't get off the LOS cleanly when jammed and this has happened with 3 different sets of starting WRs. Hagans in my view is the worst coach on the staff and it's not even close.AK would be my first. He can't develop a downfield passing attack. If he needs a mobile QB to run his triple option ish offense, he should have told Franklin that he needed Beau or he should have took the WVU job.

Howle called the offense after Yurcich was let go and did a good job. What about Howle? He seems to be doing a good job both recruiting and developing the TE position.
Yes Howle should be retained, obviously will be up to the new HC.How about Ty Howle (TE coach) possibly being retained?
Terry Smith could be retained as a GM
Poindexter is an excellent Safety coach.
Franklin will also want to bring him to his next gig. We may get into a bidding war for his services. He is worth the money.Yes Howle should be retained, obviously will be up to the new HC.
It’s not just the offense. Tatsch gets in for a series against Villanova, makes a couple tackles including a TFL, then stands on the sidelines for the rest of the game (and the next 4 games). How he enters the game and runs one route, gets open, catches the ball and then doesn't see the field again is baffling.
If it was the same staff I would agree with you. New staff will have a clean slate. And he is even more likely to leave if he continues to sit behind 3 transfers and a WR who is on the roster because Franklin liked his brother.
I don’t see why Howie couldn’t coach the OL as well since he played it.How about Ty Howle (TE coach) possibly being retained?
Terry Smith could be retained as a GM
Poindexter is an excellent Safety coach.

Maybe they could start by hiring a legitimate QB coach? I think BO’B might be the only legitimate QB coach PSU has had in my lifetime? Perhaps Ganter if you think that he wasn’t controlled by Joe to keep it conservative?Time to can a bunch of coaches and starting with the receiver's coach is a great position coach to start with followed by OL coach DL coach Strength coach Special Teams coach and RB coach. Did I miss anyone?
You could have said these exact sentiments during the Paterno years also. It took hitting rock bottom in the early 2000’s for him to give freshman like Williams and King a chance to play right away. He didn’t even let LaVar start his freshman year. It’s not just the offense. Tatsch gets in for a series against Villanova, makes a couple tackles including a TFL, then stands on the sidelines for the rest of the game (and the next 4 games).
Just let the young guys play and see what happens. They’re going to make mistakes but now is the time to make them. What are we going to lose 52-3 next week instead of 45-3? Oh no.
Was Fran a QB coach. I remember him being the OC and one of the best we ever had and the RB coach. I thought Anderson was a QB coach during that time but I'm old and forgetful.Maybe they could start by hiring a legitimate QB coach? Reason 967 that Smith shouldn't be considered for the roleHow he enters the game and runs one route, gets open, catches the ball and then doesn't see the field again is baffling.
Well, if we are to believe that Kraft pushed really heard for transfer WRs and Franklin was more loyal to his own guys, was there pressure to play the transfers? I still maintain though, that the WRs were productive at their previous schools and didn’t just lose the ability when they got here.Denmark was supposed to be a sure fire starting if not right away then soon after getting to PSU - no he is MIA. Need a new WR Coach at a minimum.
You make the move as soon as you know you're going to make the move. Gives us 6-8 weeks to talk to agents. Can't blame Franklin for not playing the young guys Saturday night. I'm willing to give Smith the benefit of the doubt. If this doesn't change over the bye week going into OSU, why bother? Why fire Franklin at 3-3 when he could have easily went 3-9 vs the rest of the schedule?
Beau turns the ball over way too much. Would have never worked.I really think we see a different offense come osu. Will we win is another matter but I think franklin put the cuffs on ak and what he wanted to do this season. Still think ak wasnt happy that Beau left, an ideal guy for his offensive philosophy.
WTF? I have this dingleberry on ignore, and didn't click to show ignored ... yet, I can see his foolishness clear as day. Hopefully this is a momentary blip that is fixed asap. Sad to see Lando hasn't changed a bit. Sad, but completely expected.Beau turns the ball over way too much. Would have never worked.
With all the openings, and some pretty good ones, it might have been the best move. Time will tell. You make the move as soon as you know you're going to make the move. Gives us 6-8 weeks to talk to agents.

I’m not sure. I knew he was OC. I did not realize he was RB coach. Wasn’t Andersen OL coach? Why QB also? I never understood the coaching assignments? One coach for C and G’s. Another for Tackles and TE? Don’t they all work in unison? I realize other teams also did it that way, just seemed strange to me. I remember when BO’B took over Mac McWhorter coached the OL and Stank (I think?) remarked it was nice to be in the meeting room with the entire OL? FYI, I thought McWhorter was a heck of an OL coach. Was Fran a QB coach. I remember him being the OC and one of the best we ever had and the RB coach. Anderson was OL coach but was also the QB coach for a while and I think OC too at one time or at least shared that with someone else. Then he went to Rutgers as HC but failed. Joe reluctantly brought him back but never treated him quite the same after that. I'm just not sure of the timing of all of that. +100. Best we've had in a long time.I’m not sure. I knew he was OC. I did not realize he was RB coach. Wasn’t Andersen OL coach? Why QB also? I never understood the coaching assignments? If you are Howard or any other True Fr do you enter the portal now if you can protect your redshirt? Howard played 5 snaps last week's.Part of Franklin's legacy -- play the upperclassmen like the 3 portal receivers over talented young players like Howard and (now sitting as a redshirt freshman also) Tyseer Denmark.
