I just heard from a trusted source in the athletic department that Stans and Byrne aren't seeing eye-to-eye at the moment. Byrne just called him back to the Hump a little while ago, and he just sent a text message saying that Stans told Byrne that ifhe thought a better jobcould be done he could do it himself.

The Ninja might be about to strike.

I know studentdawg personally and if he posts something like this, it's probably for real and not a made up rumor. I would trust him on this one.

something like that. But...if Byrne really did that, the day of one of the worst losses of Stans career, you have to lose a little respect for him. Change needs to happens but don't rub salt in the wounds. Wait till after the one and done SEC tourney, decline the NIT invite, and start the coaching search immediately.

Edited to add: It's a well known fact that Stans and Templeton didn't get along because they were both big ********. But...it had a lot to do with Stans thinking that he was bigger than the athletic department and an untouchable. For a while, he was correct...

Kind of a "you really need to win to justify having a job next year". If nothing else, Byrne needs to insist on having a good schedule for next year.

Byrne doesn't operate that way and I don't think Stansbury would react that either. Byrne will call him in after the season to discuss the program but what if MSU wins the tourneyh again, how would that make Byrne look? Some of you are just idiots.

GB had his "come to Jesus" meeting with Croom as soon as his bus hit campus after the Ole Miss game. I have no idea if GB reached out to Stans last night but it wouldn't be the first time he met with a coach after a monumental loss.</p>

...but I will state emphatically Dawgbreeze doesn't know what has or will be taking place. It can't be said enough that because you have keyboard and access to the intraweb doesn't make you an expert of anything. It is ok to just read at times and occasionally chime in when you do have a clue. If you have an opinion, state it as such rather than fact and don't bash others that bring insight to the table.

basically what this means is #1 - someone in the athletic department "thinks" they don't see eye to eye for whatever reason. #2 - Byrne tells everybody around him what Stansbury says on the phone -or- puts his phone on speaker while talking privately to a coach? really?

not saying it's ********, but how can someone know what was said by Stansbury on the phone when Stansbury wasn't there.

Ninja called Rick & told him come back to the Hump to talk. Rick arrives at Hump. Ninja & Rick proceed to discuss the situation while Source is present. It culminates in Rick telling Ninja to do the job himself if he thought it could be done. Source then texted StudentDawg87 about the face-to-face meeting. At least that's how I interpreted what 87 posted. I could be wrong about that. But then aGAIN, that's half the fun of internet rumors.

If Byrne wanted to talk to Stans, why would he wait until after he left and then call him back? Why wouldn't he just tell him, I'd like to talk to you for a minute before you leave. Also, I don't think for a second that Byrne is a big enough dubmass to have that kind of talk with a coach in front of other people. He'd do it in private. I have no inside information at all, but this rumor doesn't pass the ******** test to me.

its primarily why I believe Stans won't make the needed changes on the staff to bring in a guy that could really help with offensive schemes and such. It appears Stans doesn't want anyone on staff that might get credit over him for any improvements in the program or on-floor coaching. I guess Rick will never allow another Stan Jones.

I don't know how Stansbury talks to his boss, but if a guy that has no idea what it is like to actually coach and what the emotions and intesity is like from a coaching standpoint on a day like yesterday, you don't go in and criticize the coach. Hell that's why the coaches meet with the team briefly and then bring them back in to watch film and discuss things in detail the next day. The point is to blow off steam and review/analyze/criticize after having time to get all of the mixed emotions out and to be able to think clearly.

I find it hard to believe that someone could lose their job by getting beat by one of the best teams in the nation.

I don't know what game you watched yesterday, but there was absolutely no emotion or intensity shown from anyone on our team or any of the coaches. That's the whole reason everybody is so mad about the game, not so much that we lost, but the fact that nobody on our team looked like they even gave a 17 about it. We weren't supposed to win that game, so if we came out and played well and played hard but ended up losing, I would have been upset. But watching our team come out and half *** it the entire game and play with absolutely 0 emotion and intensity, that really makes me mad and that's why everyone is pissed off about the game.

"<span style="font-weight: bold;">I find it hard to believe that someone could lose their job by getting beat by one of the best teams in the nation.</span>"

that's not the reason. did you even watch the game? or any game all season? there were 4-5 games max all season that we played well as a team. thats why he needs to be fired, stansbury cant run an offense, doesnt motivate his team, and just look at his record against top 25 and top 50 teams, somebody post those stats please, im not sure where to find them. his teams simply under perform every single year.

but i know this stat off the top of my head, I saw it on espn earlier this year. kevin stallings, head coach for vandy. his record against top 5 teams. 5-2. that is amazing for a coach at a school like vandy. and i cant remember if that was before or after they played kentucky for the second time this year. so at least 1 and maybe both of those losses against top 5 teams was against UK this year.

and I don't see how you can call Rider or W. Kentucky one of the best teams in the nation. When you schedule weakly, you can't afford to lose to those type teams

I didn't make it as clear as should have it. I was having a conversation with someone at about 9:30 last night when Bryne called the person I was talking toand asked him to come back to the Hump. He had previously been telling us that Byrne had gone to Stans' office immediately after the game, and when Byrne called him and requested that he come back to the Hump he said that we would keep us posted on what was going on. He sent a text message later saying that Stans told Byrne thatif he thought a better job could be done then he could do it himself.

I'm not trying to start a rumor. Bryne personally called the person I was talking to and told him to come back to the Hump. He went back and texted us to let us know what was going on. Hopefully, this will clear the air some.

I'm sure Byrne is smart enough to remember who he called back to the Hump. When he reads this, your source is toast, too(assuming it's true)

They can't think that far.

They are just running and telling it like they've been doing since junior high.

Isn't that right, Ms. Runteldat87?
